Leon County Existing Home Sales Up in December, Finish 2016 Up 7%

Sales of existing single-family homes in December increased by 10.0% when compared to numbers reported in December one year ago. There were 232 single-family home resales in December 2016 and 211 resales in December 2015.

The latest numbers show that 2016 finished with a total of 3,045 sales. This is 7% above the 2,846 single-family units sold in 2015.

In 2015 single family sales increased approximately 16% more than in 2014. And in 2014, sales increased approximately 12% over the level of sales in 2013.

The December report indicates that 12-month average single-family resale prices have been increasing slightly since August. The 3-month average of prices shows that the increasing trend that began in January has ended.

The average single-family sales price of $223,775 in 2016 was up 2.9% over the average sales price of $217,484 reported in 2015.
