FSU’s 2019 Recruiting Class Ranked 8th by 247Sports

As of June 10th, 247Sports had FSU’s 2019 football recruiting class ranked 8th in the country with ten non-binding verbal commitments. The players committed to FSU include one five-star (Akeem Dent, CB), seven four-stars and two three-stars.

The 247Sports Composite Rating, shown below,  compiles prospect “rankings” and “ratings” listed in the public domain by the major media recruiting services. It converts average industry ranks and ratings into a linear composite index.

Alabama leads the rankings followed by Texas A&M.

So far the FSU class is heavy on defense with seven commits listing positions on that side of the ball.  This includes three corner backs and two defensive ends.

On the offensive side, the highest ranked player is pro-style quarterback Sam Howell. He is ranked as the fourth best recruit at that position in the country.

In the ACC, FSU ranks behind only Miami and Clemson.

  1. SLOW news day? The rise of collegiate football to the level of Cash Cow has resulted in the degradation of academic universities. Where did FSU football players rank in terms of academics compared to other FSU athletes; dead last. Work to be #1 in academic awards, graduation rates, job placement, etc.

    1. I am thinking Steve is in the beginning stage of making a smart move to round out his reporting content in order to interest more of the community and build what may become the best the biggest the one and only honest newspaper in the area.
Local sports is of great interest. Keep in mind you will never get the amount of comments that local politics generates from sports reporting unless the university’s begin lying, cheating, and stealing like our local politicians.
I hope Steve looks into getting some contacts to contribute content from FAMU and TCC also. They have students who would love to follow in Wayne Hogan’s footsteps. The kids all have amazing video and photography abilities at their fingertips on their smart phones. As a young man Wayne Hogan would have seen the value in participating in such an arrangement.
