Mayoral Candidate Dustin Daniels Coordinated Gillum Political Event as City Employee, Took Direction from Adam Corey

Recently released emails show that Dustin Daniels, former Chief of Staff for Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, was involved with coordinating a Tampa political event for Gillum when he was employed by the city of Tallahassee. So much so, that Daniels actually took directions from Gillum confidante and city lobbyist Adam Corey.

Also, the emails show no support for comments made to the Tallahassee Democrat by Gillum spokesman Jamie Van Pelt explaining the city purpose for the trip to Tampa.

The political event, which took place in Tampa in February 2016, was first revealed by Tallahassee Reports and has since been covered by other local and state-wide media.

Gillum traveled to the Tampa event with Adam Corey and Dustin Daniels on a private plane owned by Peter Leach, a developer and Democratic party donor.

When the trip was exposed by TR, the Mayor’s office said the trip was related to discussions about affordable housing.

“The mayor was invited by Peter Leach to a meeting at his office to learn about some of the work he was doing to advance wrap-around social services in schools and housing developments,” said Jamie Van Pelt, spokesman for the mayor. “While visiting Tampa the mayor also met with local political leaders before returning to Tallahassee.”

However, the newly released emails have no mention of affordable housing.

Rather, the communications were dominated by the logistics associated with setting up an an event at a high-end Tampa restaurant to expose Mayor Gillum to important Democratic Party power brokers that included Alex Sink.

The emails also show that Daniels was involved in scheduling the event, gathering input from the host about what was expected of Gillum at the meeting, and working with the host on a Gillum biography.

When Adam Corey asked Daniels to coordinate with the Leach, Daniels wrote in an email:

Greetings Peter,

I hope this message finds you well. Adam Corey asked that I reach out and send you the attached biography of Mayor Gillum. Please take a look and let me know if we can provide any additional information.Related to that, I wanted to ask you if you could provide some insight into the lunch meeting we have scheduled next Friday. Could you let me know who will be attending the meeting and also if Mayor Gillum should prepare anything?
We both look very much forward to connecting again next week.
Thanks and all the best,
Dustin

When Leach informed Daniels the provided bio was lacking, Daniels responded:

Thanks for the feedback, Peter. We absolutely have a much more detailed and substantive bio. We will make it available to you ASAP, and it includes more information about the Mayor’s accomplishments as well as the stances he has taken regarding Syrian Refugees, Marriage Equality, the confederate flag, etc.

Daniel’s was also tied to the use of city resources in the NGP VAN controversy which was settled when Gillum reimbursed the city of Tallahassee $5,000 for software that was used for political purposes.

Before the payment, Daniels -who had passwords for the software -maintained that the software was not used for any political purposes.

  1. I see the Gillum campaign is spiraling down into the desperate mode… Just received the endorsement of Michael Cohen like Cohen has any credibility.

Pay raises for state workers? Why wasn’t he promoting that promise in the beginning?

  2. If he wins as governor (doubtful), I look for gillum to invite the entire caravan and the others following it to Florida (if Jerry Brown doesn’t beat him to it). I can hear gillum now: “Welcome to Florida – here’s your food stamps, your taxpayer-funded housing, your taxpayer-funded healthcare, and your Dem-Socialist voting cards with the names of those you’ll vote for. Help me turn Florida into the countries you just fled.”

I also hope that if gillum wins as governor, the FBI drops in (with fistfulls of indictments) to pick him up at the gov. mansion before he can unpack two boxes.

  3. To James Anderson: That little diatribe that you pasted is full of untruths. First, in most of the cases, Democrats did call them out and so they do care. Secondly, most of the quotes are made up. Just one example, Robert De Niro: here is a listing of what he has said about Trump: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/ny-news-robert-deniro-trump-critic-20181025-story.html. Nothing about someone taking Trump out. Not only is your post dishonest, not only does it confuse the issue, not only is it defamatory, but remember that De Niro received a bomb from some nut case who might have been influenced by this stupid listing. Posting this article says more about you and your intellectual rigor than about the Democrats.

    1. Legally yes Gov. DeSantis can and should remove Gillum as Mayor of Tallahassee.
      Will he do it?
      No he will not.
Why just look at how reluctant and slow DeSantis was to begin hitting Gillum on his criminality as your “free look into the future” on just how weak, meek, and mild a Gov. DeSantis will be on Gillum in the future.
      Sure I voted for DeSantis.
But hello it’s a friggin week before the election already. Most voters had already made up their minds before DeSantis summoned his courage to “Man Up” against Gillum.

    2. If DeSantis wins, he will take office as Gillum vacates his mayoral office.
A better question: How to stop Gillum from running for POTUS in 2024 when Trump terms out.

  4. Thank you, James.

CNN and MSNBC need to tone down their rhetoric and quit stirring the pot, but on the other hand it does get voters out where conservatives have the edge in early voting and will vote out the liberal socialist agendas.

May There Be Peace On Earth!

  6. Gillum was paid a salary by the far left think tank People for the American way. The way they operate is that they seek out who they feel are ‘prominent’ socialists, finance their campaigns and then pay them a salary while they are in office. Thus, he was their paid lobbyist since 2004 while a city commissioner and later as ‘mayor’.

  7. Oh look Gov. there’s your sign.
Suspend Gillum as Mayor pending the outcome of your Attorney General’s investigation which – by the way – you have not ordered her to begin yet.
Soooo right after coffee tomorrow morning 1). call Pam and get that started then right after lunch tomorrow 2). suspend Gillum as Mayor of Tallahassee pending the outcome of the investigation.
    OK??????

    1. Dang Maven Trump just now kicked Gillum’s rear so hard on Laura Ingram’s show that Gillum is tasting Trump’s shoe polish. MAGA

    1. Look closer.
He’s getting his property assessed for $70K LESS than he bought it for 4 years ago. I’m AKIN to know how he did that. I thought property values had been going up during that time…not down.

      1. Let’s not forget our Leon County Property Appraiser Akin was sued by a lady because he gave her herpes or some STD. Wonder if Akin and Andy have the same strain of……
.Stop right there Snidely thats just gross.
