Mark S. Daniel

Mark Daniel is a retired construction management professional and currently a real estate investor in Tallahassee. He operates rental properties in the Lafayette Park Neighborhood as well as Myers Park Historic District.

He is the founder & editor of HistoricLafayettePark.com, an online newsletter dedicated to exposing the abuses of historic preservation in Tallahassee-Leon County.

Quote: “Historic Preservation of our older buildings and homes is very important to maintaining a sense of continuity and understanding our community’s history. When the public process for “helping” historic preservation becomes a malicious, punitive affair, it turns property owners off and the result is loss of real treasures from the past. When it becomes a theft of public funds, it needs to be policed.”

Mr. Daniel has first-hand experience of the historic preservation process from it’s administration and operation in Myers Park where one property is located. Plus, his property in Lafayette Park is presently being threatened by two historic rezoning applications pending which were illegally processed by city boards and departments. He has researched the abuses deeply and continues to be amazed by what too many public officials consider to be okay behavior.

Tallahassee Historic Preservation Process Raises Questions

Free Money!!  The City of Tallahassee will give away hundreds of thousands of dollars to someone–in fact many someones–for the renovation and repair of their old houses.  They’ve already done it for many people, and the funds are there to keep going with more handouts!  All you need is an old house, and an understanding [...]
