For years democrats and republicans alike have perfected the art of corruption to become wealthy at taxpayer expense, many of them starting out holding office in local government and "graduating" to higher office as their influence grows. Then people are reluctant to call them out or even run against them for fear of the power they hold to ruin them and their families financially and otherwise.

This is why term limits need to apply to every political office from the local school board to the U.S Congress. It wouldnt stop all the corruption, but it would make it much harder for anyone to gain power and hold it for an extended period of time. Public service wasnt originally meant to be a career, but citizens "serving for a short time" then going back to their private lives. It should be more like jury duty...with common people holding majorities in governing bodies... not just lawyers and wealthy elites. Would it ever be possible for a member of Congress to vote in term limits for themselves?

Ms. Lena, you make a lot of assertions that refuse to morph into actual facts.
The Democrats and “intelligence services” have no evidence of Trump or Republican “collusion” with Russia, or it would have been trotted out long ago. Democrats can’t produce any evidence despite Mueller’s feverish little investigation team composed entirely of Hillary donor-acolytes. The truth is, they have nothing. “Russian Collusion” is a Democrat campaign slogan and nothing more, except where Hillary is involved - she definitely paid Russians for the fake “dossier” on Trump, and that’s a documented and proven fact, as opposed to an assertion. So “influencing elections in favor” is Hillary’s crime, she owns it. And recall, obama himself said “no rational person” would believe that Russians could influence or change our elections. So I guess that Makes a lot of “irrationals’ out of Democrats, including obama.

You assert Mr. Trump is clueless. Yet this supposedly ignorant rube easily bested the “Smartest Woman in the World”, and carried many longtime blue states. Although the MSM and most of Washington all laughed at Trump’s candidacy, he proved them all dead wrong, and continued filling stadiums and rallies around America with thousands of enthusistic supporters - all while Hillary struggled to gather more than a few hundred people at any appearance and tried to remain standing and healthy for the duration, failing once in an obvious debacle.
Underestimating Trump is foolish and he is already several steps ahead of his opponents long before they realize it. Under Trump policies, America is booming again and consumer confidence is at an all-time high, while unemployment is at 40-year lows. GDP has grown faster and higher than any forecast by economic pundits after his inauguration. Seems “clueless” Trump has easily outperformed obama’s presidency by huge and embarassing margins, and only in his 1st year, against incredible obstacles. Seems “clueless” mostly applies to Trump’s opponents.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I must go apply my “Trump 2020” bumper sticker. You may as well get used to seeing them. Catch you at Trump’s next rally?

Trump is a BS artist. Granted, there is a certain amount of corruption in every institution. The question is how much and what is tolerable?

Having worked for both governmental offices and a governmental contractor, the first rule is that you have to have people who know what they doing to actually do the job.

Trump is clueless himself and he hires grossly unqualified family, friends, lobbyists, industry execs and allies. If Obama had pulled just one of the things Trump has, we'd never hear the end of it.

Worse yet, the Republicans have certainly, if not knowingly committed treason by colluding with foreign powers to influence the election in their favor, it certainly does not upset them that it happened. They refuse to take any steps to deter this from happening again.

Far from preventing a "swamp", the Republicans are the definition.

Mr. Schweizer, if you’re reading this article, I applaud your hard work and efforts in exposing corruption and insider dealing among Washington’s supposedly “elite” on both sides (should we say all sides?) of the aisle and the White House. I hope this book is even more successful than your previous ones and results in real (as opposed to sham) investigations into DC corruption, and hopefully even some prosecutions and removals from office, no matter how high the office may be.

Pres. Trump was far more correct than he imagined when he called Washington “The Swamp”. As you point out, our country was and is being sold up the river by our own supposed “leaders”, and Pres. Trump has vowed to stop it and kick their corrupt game table over - no wonder The Swamp is fighting back. To paraprase Newt Gingrich’s observation from a few months ago “When you say you’re going to Drain the Swamp, did you think the Alligators would go along with it?”

Perhaps at some point you may find ample reason to write about the local dealings of Tallahassee City Government and Leon County. Although not on the scale or scope as Washington, the corruption and devious methods are much the same. Sadly, we have our own Swamp to Drain.
Again, I applaud and respect your very important work and wish you every success.
