Burnette Trial: Maddox, Carter-Smith Slated to Testify, Vegas Recordings Listed as Exhibits

Documents filed on Thursday, October 4th, by JT Burnette’s lawyers indicate that former Tallahassee City Commissioner Scott Maddox and his business associate, Paige Carter-Smith, are slated to testify at the Burnette trial scheduled to begin on November 4th.

Also, the filing refers to exhibits that include recordings referencing Las Vegas.

The filing by Burnette’s lawyers is asking for a delay in the trial due to a superceding indictment filed on October 2, 2019.

In an email dated September 23rd from a Department of Justice attorney, Burnette’s legal team is told about the testimony of Maddox and Carter-Smith.

From the email:

Yes, we anticipate producing amended witness and exhibit lists. We expect Scott Maddox and Paige Carter-Smith to testify at trial. A 302 for Carter-Smith’s proffer is forthcoming. We will provide amended lists as soon as possible.” (Emphasis added)

The 302 referred to in the email is a form used by federal officials to document interviews they have conducted.

Another internal email indicates that recordings related to Las Vegas will be used as exhibits in the upcoming trial.

From the email:

“If you look at items 887 and 889 on the Government’s exhibit list it has two separate recordings and transcripts from 12/3/16 in Las Vegas,…”

Media outlets have reported extensively about a trip to Las Vegas setup by undercover FBI agents in 2016. A photograph surfaced of JT Burnette and Scott Maddox in Las Vegas with the FBI agents.

  1. from TR 08/14/14 – “$1,447,661 (CRA $$) invested in KaiserKane (Retail and Office) on the corner of Tennessee and Monroe. Is this a blighted area? The building houses Walgreens Pharmacy which continues to sell tobacco products. Tobacco kills more than 440,000 people each year.”

From JT Burnett, February 12, 2017

    “Steve:

The property tax before Gateway was $42,409.68 per year the property tax is now $134,349.86 per year a net increase of $91,940.18.

    CRA Investment of $1,400,000 / $91,940.18 = 15.23 year

Property taxes increased in Tax Year 2015 + 15 years = year 2030 not year 2040 in your headline.

This investment by the CRA will save taxpayers $91,940.18+ ( tax increase) for the next 100+ years $91,940.18 per year x 100 years = $9,194,018.

So the CRA made a $1,400,000 investment and will save taxpayers over $9,194,018 and this is a bad thing?

If the CRA did not invest $1,400,000 it would have cost tax payers $9,194,018 and the prime corner in Tallahasee would still be a closed gas station.

The great thing about your readers they are great at math and the number don’t lie. It’s only when you add too many words it becomes hard to understand. Please check my math.

Let’s see what happens on the NorthWest corner, time will tell. For now it’s just a eyesore dragging down property values.”

  2. Great job to Honorarble Steve Stewart, Dr. Ervin Jackson, US Attorney North District of Fla,, Prosecuting team, IRS and most importantly undercover agents FBI! No loyalty amongst snitches and rats. Self preservation is on deck. The more indictable dirt the lesser the sentence. Next up Andrew and cohorts!

  3. Once again a quick check of 3 other media outlets in Tallahassee indicates the entire population which does not read Tallahassee Reports is totally unaware anything at is going on at all regarding today and yesterdays J T Burnett and Usual Suspects corruption developments.
    Thanks Steve Stuart!!!

  4. Hope – Yep; all that you succinctly presented as questions are/will be documented facts; so where are all the Maddox Cohorts in the City’s Crimes Depos and then indictments? Will the circle be unbroken…..When’s the documentary/movie coming out…..?

  5. Wasn’t a County commissioner’s family involved in the construction at the DoubleTree?

Didn’t the same county commissioner buy a home at a much lower than market price from Mr Burnett?

Didn’t all the County Commissioners vote Yes on the Waste Pro bid award even though Scott Maddox was involved and the bid should have been disqualified?

Back in the day when Maddox was a City Commissioner and mayor on the first go-round didn’t Gary Yordon fake own Maddox’s is property on a contract written on a paper napkin?

When will all that were involved in the retaliatory actions taken against the former city of Tallahassee employee Harry Brown and his employee going to be rectified?

What they all did to Harry Brown and his employee was unconscionable and it needs to be made right.

What was the final outcome regarding the lawsuit on the former Convention Center Hotel where Gary Jordon was the lobbyist on that?

Will the way Gillum is spending his 3 million dollars left over his campaign be made public?

    1. Hope, Great memory! Yeah, Kristen Dozier and Mad Dog’s relationship witth criminal JTB should be vetted including her real estate short sale deal.JTB to srike deal with the government and will snitch. His tarnished Golden boy Halo has become a proverbial perk walk noose.

      1. The gateway property on the corner of Monroe and Tennessee (former Walgreens) was given huge tax breaks. It is now owned by TM Street, LLC which has JT burnett as Director.

The CRA, PLACE, the Commissions, the Mayor, and Blueprint all stink.

        Guess what?

        Gateway building built by….drum roll…

        1. I’m wondering what effect the outcome of JT’s trial will have on Trulieve. His wife, Kim Rivers, is CEO of the medical marijuana company.
Can’t be good for the spouse of a CEO of a publicly traded company to be headed to the Big House.

          1. Smart Lady! Quite sure investors and surrogates are scrambling for damage control. Possibly look for CEO to take a reprieve or step down due to the usual narrative “privacy for family blah blah blah”!
