My heart screams out for the victims and their families.
A deputy did not respond to the gunfire. He might have been able to stop the shooter.
The Sheriff is blamed for his deputy’s failure to respond and is suspended from office.
The Senate appointed a Special Master to make a finding of whether or not the Sheriff had been remiss in his duties.
The Senate rejected the Findings and Recommendations of its Special Master.
The Senate voted based on public opinion and their own political security, not the law.
In the future, if a legislative staffer violates Senates rules, the Senator is responsible?
If a school teacher violates state law, the Superintendent should be suspended?
If a police officer handles an investigation in a way that is contrary to dept policy, the Chief has to be removed?
When a member of the Governor’s staff violates the law, the Governor will, no doubt, resign.
Of course not to all those questions, but that’s what your elected Senators just did.
