This bill will open the door to all kinds of corruption. Why are we even considering this bill? in all my years I have never heard a college athlete complain about being on scholarship or not being able to survive on the scholarship. Being a member of a varsity sports team in college and receiving a scholarship to play the sport is a goal of many kids and their parents. Just because pro athletes make tons of money from advertising, does not mean we should allow this to happen at the college level. How are we going to police this commercialization? WIll there be a set salary rate? or will athletes get to negotiate their compensation? will there be caps on compensation? will there be bidding wars over certain athletes? will they have agents? will all athletes be eligible? what about other students that are part of the athletic program and contribute to the success of the team, like cheerleaders, equipment managers etc. A cheerleader could sell her image to sell a product or endorse a product, an equipment manager could endorse a brand of baseball bat, soccer ball, etc. where do you draw the line? What will be the psychological impact on teams, players, and other students of gross income inequality. What about the people on the team that dont get any offers to endorse products or services? what about that inequality.?

It appears they’re trying to provide a way for schools like the University of Miami and their rich booster base to entice players to come said the her university through pay outs for autographs photos and things of that nature.

“If you look at the billions of dollars generated by these student-athletes,” …………. You can not use that as your Scale since some Schools are Small and do not come even close to the Attendance as many of the Bigger Schools.

If you are going to PAY the Players then, you should do away with all Scholarships AND the Players should be made to keep up with their own School Work while maintaining at LEAST a 3.0 GPA.
