SCOTUS Ruling Favors Florida’s Election Reforms

SCOTUS Ruling Favors Florida’s Election Reforms

On Thursday, the United States Supreme Court ruled 6-3 in a case that impacts Florida’s election reforms. The ruling supports a new set of voting reform laws signed by Arizona Governor Doug Ducey. In their decision, SCOTUS signaled support for measures taken by states like Florida in their attempt to clamp down on election and voter fraud.

The Florida Legislature, lead by Republicans, passed an election reform bill and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed it into law on May 6. The bill sets in place new requirements for ballot drop boxes and mail-in voting.

Florida Republicans based the legislation on 2012 grand jury recommendations in a voter fraud case out of Miami-Dade County, as well as election fraud cases found to take place during the 2020 presidential election.

The new law faced a flurry of immediate lawsuits from civil rights groups claiming it is discriminatory towards minorities and is a form of voter suppression.

However, CNN Supreme Court analyst, Steve Vladeck, said election integrity laws, like Florida’s, would likely survive after SCOTUS’ ruling.

“Although lower courts will have to sort through exactly how much harder today’s ruling will make it to challenge voting restrictions, the one undeniable point is that more of the post-2020 state restrictions will survive under today’s ruling than would have before today,” said Vladeck.

In light of the lawsuits facing Florida’s reforms, national Republican groups are joining the fight to defend Florida’s law. Florida Sen. Rick Scott also offered his support for election integrity and went on to say the mainstream media is deceiving Floridians.

“The lawsuits being pushed by radical leftists in Florida have no basis in fact,” Scott said in a statement. “They are part of the Democrats’ Big Lie — that any efforts to secure the integrity of our elections is racist. That is a lie and the NRSC is proud to stand with the RNC in my home state to defend this commonsense law and fight back against the Democrats’ lies.”

DeSantis said he believes Florida will continue to have transparency it its elections, and the new law takes even further steps to ensure integrity.

“Right now I have what we think is the strongest election integrity measures in the country,” said DeSantis in a television interview. “We’re proud of the strides that we’ve made. We’re not resting on our laurels. And me signing this bill here says, ‘Florida, your vote counts, your vote is going to be cast with integrity and transparency.’”

  1. It doesn’t matter because those who the rules are against will just be more pissed off and vote along with DeSantis making protesting illegal, throwing senior under the bus to get the economy going faster yet because DeSantis caused more disease, made it take longer to really
    open up.
Between Chump, DeSantis and other incompetent ones they killed likely 500k more than needed by such stupid actions, many times the opposite of what should have been done for political reasons.
2022 is coming and we won’t forget.

  2. Apparently my comment doesn’t suit the Editorial state of mind here,
    So,
    Happy 4th Everyone, enjoy
    God Bless America!

  3. Since the Editors keep deleting my comment, I will simply keep posting it.
This SCOTUS ruling is a Great thing for Florida and America. THis says very clearly that No One is Oppressed by these laws, Except people who intend to Cheat.

  4. These Elections reforms are a great thing for Florida and America. The ONLY people they Oppress, or Suppress, is anyone trying to CHEAT the system, specifically the Left and the Demonrats.

  5. I wish there was some way to force Judge Hinkle to be required to dress in a clown suit with full make up, the wig, the red nose that squeaks when he squeezes it and of course those size 27 shoes during the entire proceeding.
    Wouldent that be a hoot?

  6. Great wisdom in your comments Edward. The left is somewhat boxed in by the SCOTUS rulling. But they will still try to stir their poo by getting one or more sham cases in front of Judge Hinkles Florida Federal Clown Court. Costing the people more time and money than necessary.
But at least with the SCOTUS rulling it will be more of a lame @ss attempt and hopefully somewhat comical to watch Judge Hinkles Clown Court try its pretzel logic attempt at stopping the greatest Governor and our legislators common sense law in Florida.

  7. As usual – at least more often than not – the adults in the room smack down the lower court activist in robes. Kudos to the SCOTUS majority and shame on the minority decent. I continue to be amazed at the DemoKKKrats, and even the ones on the SCOTUS, who have a deep-seeded disdain for the intellect of we communities of color. Their unwavering belief that we people of color are too stupid to find our police place or get an ID, and are completely incapable of following rules… is remarkable. What’s worse is that far too many of we people of color are so gullible as to buy into their propaganda.

The bottom line is… if you’re too stupid to follow the rules, then you ought not be allowed to even vote for the people who make the rules.

Wake up my brothers and sisters… we’ve been played like a Clinton/Biden intern for far too long. It’s time to own our future, accept our responsibilities, and make a better future for our children “of color”.

Happy 4th to all, and may God continue to bless and protect America, Her “real” President, Her Constitution, Her Laws, Her Sovereignty, and Her People.
