Private John Fletcher enlisted in the Army at age 15 and fought the last three years of The American Revolutionary War. He is buried in Salem Cemetery near Havana. His service has been verified by the Caroline Brevard Chapter, Daughters of the Revolution.

Since mandates are so popular now, the daily recitation of the pledge, by all school children in this country, should be mandated.

How many people know that we have an honored Revolutionary War hero buried here in Leon County in the family cemetary near Tall Timbers. A descendant living here is Nita Davis owner of Lichgate off Tharpe Street. Her dad bought what is now Gil Waters Park on Lake Mundon for his mom to run a fish camp, after he returned from WWII. She is such a neat lady and it would do well for TR to meet her and do a story on her and her family.
