@Edward,
Allowing abortions (regardless of how the pregnancy began) for the first 15 weeks is absolutely not an extreme position. In fact, it is a huge exception to the no-abortions position. The only "immovable extreme" seems to be the no-limitation position; the no-exception position isn't even on the table.

BTW, I'm glad your father was immovably pro-life at your birth. Thanks, be to God.

@ Rusty... true story (according to my mother)... at my birth, the doctors told my father that he had to make a choice between saving me or my mother. My father simply stated, "save both", and so it was by the Grace of God.

IMO: The problem with the debate over abortion, is that there can be no debate as a result of what I call the "immovable extremes". One side insists that there can be no exceptions, and the other side insists that there can be no limitations. The reality is that there must be both exceptions and limitations. If the two sides can at least agree on those reality points, then a substantive debate/discussion can begin in earnest as to what those exceptions and limitations should look like.

Amen, @Barb. If Dunn truly believes life begins at conception, then an exemption for aborting a child that is the product of rape or incest is just as murderous as aborting a child who is not. The former's life is not any less valuable than the latter's. Let the state execute the convicted perpetrator of the rape, not the innocent product of the rape.

And an exception for the "life of the mother" is equally disingenuous. If both mother and child are viewed as human beings, and the pregnancy is endangering the life of one or both of them, then this is what the medical profession would call a "rescue operation": Attempt to deliver the baby if that's what's necessary to save the life of the mother. If the baby dies during or after delivery, then at least you tried. Such a procedure would necessarily be performed in a hospital with multiple medical professionals in attendance, not in an abortuary.

Why do so many Republicans insist on snatching defeat from the jaws of victory? The 15 week abortion restriction does not need to be watered down. I will vote for these Republicans against Democrats in the general election but, if they have a challenger in the primary who will support pro-life legislation, I'll vote for their challenger.

I also strongly disagree with Dunn on his position that the U.S. needs to seriously engage in the Ukraine/Russia border conflict. He did not make his case.

Instead of asking these U.S. candidates about the Ukraine/Russia border, I wish they had been asked what their position is regarding the unsecured U.S. southern border. As an American citizen, that's the border that has me most concerned.
