Leon County Schools reported eight gun incidents in the 2021-2022 year. That’s several more than the year prior. Leon High School recently experienced a student bringing a gun on campus. And at Godby High School, a student posted a gun threat after an altercation with other students. Former students and parents are growing increasingly concerned.

Earlier this week, Florida Highway Patrol responded to a deadly crash that left one pedestrian dead. The crash occurred around 9:00 p.m. on US-19 when a Tallahassee man was walking alongside the road when the SUV in question struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene.

FLORIDA NEWS

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced yesterday his proposals for a record $115 billion state budget. Many of the things receiving funding as part of DeSantis’ proposals are hot-button issues including year-round tax cuts on items like baby cribs and strollers, pet food and medication and gas stoves, and is proposing pay raises for state workers and prosecutors. Jewish day schools, museums, and memorials would also be set to receive a total of $18.2 million for security and education services.

Harmeet Dhillon, the runner-up in the RNC Chair election, has endorsed Christian Ziegler for Chair of the Florida GOP. Ziegler currently serves as the Republican Party of Florida Vice Chair. “Florida GOP’s Christian Ziegler is a rock-solid conservative who doesn’t just claim to be ‘grassroots,’ but has shown he’s willing to fight for Florida’s grassroots Republicans,” she tweeted.

SPORTS NEWS

Florida State Women’s Basketball freshman guard Ta’Niya Latson has been announced as a Top 10 candidate for the 2023 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award. The announcement was made on Tuesday afternoon by The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association. The award recognizes the top shooting guard in women’s NCAA Division I college basketball.

FSU basketball lost on the road to the NC State Wolfpack last night 94-66. North Carolina State’s Terquavion Smith scored a game-high 32 points on ten made field goals and six free throws. The Seminoles remain on the road to complete the second game of their two away game series against Louisville before returning to the Donald L. Tucker Center on Wednesday, February 8th.

  1. Governor DeSantis, how about getting with the Government in DC to make Prescription Medication 100% Tax Deductible. With Biden is pushing for better Healthcare, most Issues come with a Prescription to fix it and many can’t afford them.
