In &#039;86 I was working for a company with business around the world.  One of their customers was China with an installation on an oil field in Northeast China.  While I was there, the Chinese figured out how to &quot;steal&quot; the licensed software and use it elsewhere.  They we so proud of themself that they put a congratulatory sign on the front steps, honoring the citizen that had &quot;saved&quot; the Chinese $60,000 in licensing costs.  I brought a picture of that sign home, but couldn&#039;t find anyone that was even remotely interested.  It sure seemed odd at the time that products with such strict export controls was copied and stolen by the Chinese but nobody cared....]]></description>
