This is a phenomenal idea !!
FSU can siphon off millions of health care revenue those local yokel doctors waste on new cat/mri scanners and heart monitors for TMH, and put ithe $$ where it truly belongs: FSU Law school and salaries for DEI liberal arts professor's !!

Maybe they'll even throw the conservatives a scrap, and allocate a few million to NIL for one or two FSU football recruits.so we can have a winning season again !!

So what if a few dozen (or hundred) Tallahassee residents die early... a winning football season and fully funded gender studies program at FSU Law School is well worth that small sacrifice !

I have no objection to creating a teaching hospital in Tallahassee. But always in the back of my mind is how much FSU neglects its infrastructure. One need look no further than the recent need for local taxpayers to fund deferred maintenance at Doak Campbell Stadium. The community had to give up a lot of long-deferred infrastructure project to find the state's responsibility for Doak Campbell. And absent some kind of commitment from the state, I'm not sure there will be sustained interest in the state, via FSU, running a hospital. But then, I could be wrong.

Of course a lawyer’s opinion that will most likely benefit themselves in the long run!
FSU added a health care office out on Roberts Avenue several years ago. It's largely a teaching facility and much of the office seems to be a trained medical professional or a student.

My family MD is one of the leaders there. What I've experienced in the last 5 years is enough issues to have me looking for a new MD. Multiple billing oddities that remain unexplained. Multiple billing issues that are either incompetence or fraud. At one time I could call my physician's office and be seen within 24 hours and often the same day. Today she's booked 3 months out. FSU is already running a medical facility and is not very good at it. I shudder to think what they could do to a full medical center.

FSU is a publicly funded university. That this plan "will not cost taxpayers" is a fantasy. Funding from FSU is just a different taxpayer bucket.

I need more than "trust us" to believe that this is a good idea.

TMH is led by a President/CEO and a 15-member board of directors, comprised of nine local business leaders and six members of the TMH medical staff............ I don't see any City Employee's listed on the Board.

City leaders were concerned that the proposed changes granted TMH a lot of additional authority while diminishing city oversight......... TMH owns the Business and WILL have more Authority if THEY decide to expand yet gain. From what is being said here, the only thing the City has to oversee is the Lease, Building and Assets in Tallahassee, What Authority would the City have over TMH outside of that?
