His reporting was reliable, clear and insightful. He was clearly trusted by a variety of people in various corridors around Tallahassee. It’s not likely that we’ll ever see another reporter cover Florida politics as well for such a long stretch of time. RIP, Mr. Cotterell.

I have read his columns in The Democrat for years and admired his doggedness. He reminds me of another great Capitol reporter named Barbara Frye. I wonder if they ever worked together during their UPI days. Florida will not be the same without Cotterell.
