Dr. Erwin Jackson Recognized at MLK Foundation Event and by Capital Conservatives

Two groups with vastly different ideological views of the world found a topic they can agree on: Dr. Erwin Jackson.

Dr. Jackson was recently recognized at a Martin Luther King Foundation event and by Capital Conservatives for his efforts in addressing local government corruption in Tallahassee.

On the recognition, Dr Jackson told TR, “Taking a public stand against political corruption does not win you many friends and is rarely appreciated! It did result in me being personally attacked and my business threatened.”

Over the last ten years, Dr. Jackson consistently spoke out at public meetings and filed ethics complaints and lawsuits against local officials. And while most of the complaints were dismissed at the time, the recent findings by the Federal investigation into local corruption have supported a number of Jackson’s earlier claims.

On Tuesday, January 14th, Capital Conservatives, which was founded in 2009, adopted a resolution that stated in part that Dr. Jackson “challenged the downward spiral of responsible, responsive, and ethical behavior by city officials with his personal activism.”

The resolution recognized Dr.Jackson’s investment of time and resources in his efforts to promote transparency and hold elected leaders accountable.

The resolution concluded:

The Capital Conservatives Club of Tallahassee declares January 14, 2020 Dr. Erwin E. Jackson day and that the entire membership expresses to him our collective thanks and sincerest appreciation for his powerful community leadership in the pursuit of good government in the Capital City of Florida.

On Wednesday January 15th, a number of elected officials and local community leaders gathered in the North Rotunda of the Leon County Courthouse for an annual luncheon hosted by the MLK Foundation to celebrate 100 years since the 19th Amendment, which gives women the right to vote.

Leon County Commissioner Bill Proctor, in conjunction with The MLK Foundation of Florida, Inc., hosted the event and Dr. Jackson was one of the local citizens recognized at the gathering.

Jackson told TR that, “this recognition from two very different groups clearly vindicates my actions and proves that our community will stand together against those who use their potential position for their personal gain. I accepted these awards on behalf of the two dozen city employees who risked much when they trusted me with vital information that ultimately led to the downfall of many corrupt Tallahassee politicians.”
