Superintendent Rocky Hanna announced earlier this week that Leon County Schools will extend the quarantine period from five days to 10 days for students who test positive for COVID-19.
The changes come after the Florida Department of Education issued their guidelines. “We have to abide by state law, and we will abide by the rules set forth by the state of Florida as directed by the governor,” Hanna said in a video posted to Twitter.
If the student who tests positive is asymptomatic or is showing mild symptoms with improvements, they may return to school after 10 days. Though, the student may return to school before the 10 days are up if they provide a negative test result or have a note from their doctor.
Employees, however, may return to school after five days. This remains unchanged from the previous protocol.
Furthermore, staff must wear masks while indoors, unless they can maintain a minimum of 6 feet distance from others. Visitors are required to wear masks at all times while indoors, and face covers remain optional for students, so the district remains compliant with Florida Law.
Hanna stated, “We are strongly encouraging students to wear masks to protect themselves, teachers, and their classmates.”
The Leon County Schools COVID dashboard will continue updating current case information by school.
So staff just have to stay out 5 days but kids have to stay home 10 days? There’s no science to back up such a policy. My guess is teachers were claiming ‘Covid’ for a 10 day vacation.
Beware the Pharmaceutical Industrial Complex
Tony Fraudci is the Joseph Mengele of our time, and I believe that history will bare this out. If you’re still buying into the whole China Bio-Weapon Flu Scamdemic, or the latest Omi’con-job… then you deserve the misery it causes in your life.
Rocky Hannah has done permanent damage to Leon county’s children. They may never fully recover from his horrible, cowardly decisions. He is a public enemy as long as he is in charge of anything.
Hey Hanna, no where have you said to WASH HANDS OFTEN or use Hand Sanitizer often. Those two things are KEY to protecting yourself from Covid. Yes, Masks may help but Washing Hands OFTEN helps even more.
