Caban also noted his efforts to protect “Leon County tax dollars from runaway spending” related to the Blueprint Intergovernmental Agency.,

“I am extremely proud of the work we have done and the support along with the positive feedback we have received from the residents of District 2. I want folks to know we are just getting started.

CHRISTIAN CABAN ANNOUNCES BID FOR RE-ELECTION ON THE BACK OF MAJOR WINS IN JUST 14 MONTHS ON THE JOB

Leon County, February 9. 2024 — Today, Christian Caban proudly launches his campaign for re-election as the County Commissioner for District 2. Caban’s promise to be “unapologetically selfish for District 2” comes into focus after just 14 months on the job and major victories for District 2.

When Commissioner Caban launched his first campaign in 2022, he pledged to address the pressing concerns voiced by citizens in District 2. Chief among these concerns were ensuring the safety of our children, improving infrastructure, and safeguarding hard-earned tax dollars. As the re-election campaign kicks off, it’s time to reflect on the promises made and the incredible progress achieved in just one year.

Caban’s major wins include:

Two sidewalk projects, inception of a bus stop lighting program in the Fort Braden and Woodville community to keep our kids safe as they move to and from school. And new playgrounds and park enhancements in both communities to give children of all ages and abilities the opportunity to play.

Major infrastructure projects underway including septic to sewer conversions in Woodville, Capital Circle SW widening, State Road 20 safety improvements, lighting improvements, and overall roadway safety enhancements. Over 100M dollar investment from FDOT across our district between Hwy 90 and Capital Circle NW repaving.

Tharpe Street (NW Connector) project was not fully funded in the approved 2023 budget. At Caban’s direction, the project is now fully funded and the project timeline has moved up by 7 years.

Caban’s leadership via motions on the Blueprint IA board have protected Leon County tax dollars from runaway spending and reigned in project costs.

These wins for District 2 are great, but Caban emphasizes that this is just the beginning. “In less than a full term, significant progress has been made, but there is more work to be done.” Caban says.

With the continued support of District 2 residents, Caban pledges to build on this foundation and deliver even more wins for the community in his first full term.

“I am extremely proud of the work we have done and the support along with the positive feedback we have received from the residents of District 2. I want folks to know we are just getting started. With your support we will to continue to push toward our goal of making District 2 the best place to live, work, and raise a family.”

  1. Everywhere one turns, citizens in District 2 complain about Caban in their neighborhoods. He tries to take credit for projects approved years ago, eg septic to sewer, FDOT widening of Capital Circle NE, sidewalks previously on priority lists created years ago, etc. Other Commissioners wish he would solve the debacle at Lake Munson where county staff apparently have not followed the science in restoring this once pristine recreational lake.

  2. Alonso AKA Gro Tallahassee

Did Caban attend the Amelia Island or Sandestin junket on the taxpayers dime? If so, giving him credit for speaking up about Blueprint spending is ridiculous. Why isn’t he speaking up about all the wasted tax dollars that goes to those junkets that do nothing for taxpayers?

There needs to be a claw back on all that money that has been misused and each elected official/appointed official who used tax dollars should be legally required to refund the taxpayers. Taxpayers would be getting quite the windfall.

  3. Caban got right to work. I give him a lot of credit. He is also the only one to speak up about the bullshit going on with blueprint spending increases.

Feels like he brings a sense of urgency to the board that was lacking a bit.

My family is planning to vote for him again.

  4. Really? These projects are years in the making and to step in and within months fully take credit for them is deceptive.

The reality is he attempts to portray himself as a Republican yet is a Democrat. He is a waterboy for special interests (to benefit himself in the form of bundled contributions). No thank you.
