The Tallahassee Police Department held a promotion ceremony Tuesday morning at city hall. Chief Lawrence Revell promoted two officers to sergeants, and one sergeant to lieutenant. The men’s loved ones got to pin their new badges on them.

Tallahassee Police are investigating an attempted homicide after a man was found with multiple gunshot wounds early Wednesday morning, according to police. The incident unfolded just before 4 a.m. Wednesday in the 1400 block of Alabama Street after police responded to a possible shooting in the area, police said.

State senators are off to a quick start filing bills as they gear up for the 2025 legislative session, which begins March 4.

Special Elections beget Special Elections. As state lawmakers run for newly opened congressional seats, Florida law requires them to resign their current posts. In the case of members of the Legislature, those seats must also be filled via Special Elections.

The Biden administration introduced a proposal yesterday to expand Medicare and Medicaid coverage to include popular weight-loss medications like Wegovy and Zepbound. The initiative, led by the Department of Health and Human Services, would classify obesity as a treatable disease to reduce associated health risks including heart disease and diabetes.

A record 80 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more over Thanksgiving weekend, the majority (a record 71.7 million) by car. Millions more are expected to fly, including a record-breaking 3 million on Sunday alone.
