City Commissioner Curtis Richardson Announces Re-Election Campaign

On July 18th, Tallahassee City Commissioner Curtis Richardson announced his intentions to seek re-election in 2024.

“It is with honor and pride that I declare my intention to seek re-election as your City Commissioner, Seat 2. I have had the privilege of serving this community in various elected offices, but it has been my greatest honor to serve as your City Commissioner since 2014 representing your voices,
values, and concerns as we move forward together,” stated Richardson in a campaign press release.

Richardson noted his focus will continue to be on advocating for neighborhoods, making policies that improve city services, affordable housing, and reducing violent crime.

Richardson stated that public safety will be a high priority in his campaign.

“As a fellow citizen in this community, I have personally felt the impact of the surging crime rates, which is why prioritizing public safety is paramount to my re-election campaign,” said Richardson.

The Tallahassee City Commission is currently considering a budget that will increase spending on law enforcement.

Richardson also highlighted some of his accomplishments.

“As the Vice Chair of the Blueprint Sales Tax committee and a member of the original committee in 2000, I am also excited that my leadership has played a pivotal role in successfully overseeing the distribution of 32 Blueprint Projects with 18 of them slated for the Southside of Tallahassee. These projects on the Southside will amount to a significant $270 million investment, which includes important enhancements to the fairgrounds,” stated Richardson.

Richardson is being challenged by former Tallahassee mayor and city commissioner Dot Inman-Johnson who filed to run in early June.

  1. To NE Hopeful Semi-Moderate:

Your post is the most thoughtful I have read. These socialists (Porter, Matlow, Johnson) are not anti-tax, they are anti-police and their stupid policies will bring the chaos we see in other California cities, Chicago, and NYC. They willl willingly raise taxes to support socialist programs and try to squash development needed to bring in increase revenue. Curtis Richardson all the way for me!!!

  2. NO THANKS INMAN JOHNSON. These socialists are not anti-tax, they are anti-police and will not hesitate to raise our taxes in support of their socialist programs. I will vote for Curits who believes in Talllahasses’s efforts to continue to diversify its economy and bringing new development to increase revenue. We need to continue our efforts to bring down crime which has increased in a lot of other cities in this country, due to radical progressives (Porter, Matlow, Johnson are infected). But Tallahassee is not like the chaos in California cities, Portland, Seatle, Chicago etc.

    Quote of the week…

“Porter yes will cruise but actually Curtis is in serious electoral trouble. The tax increase is a major, major issue Reese, VancoreJones, the Chamber, developer money men who pull estab strings all are far underrating.”

  4. Hopeful

Lol what. Curtis will lose whatever you say about anyone else, he’s voting the raise our property taxes. Voters don’t like that

  5. Curtis is in trouble kind of like Diane Williams Cox was in trouble but won by 20 points? Hey Max, how did you donors feel about that race?

  6. Commonsense

Porter yes will cruise but actually Curtis is in serious electoral trouble. The tax increase is a major, major issue Reese, VancoreJones, the Chamber, developer money men who pull estab strings all are far underrating.

  7. Wish he’d throw in the towel & let his wife, Judge Nina, run instead.
But I’m sure she wouldn’t want to give up a $156K-plus annual salary. Gotta be able to pay for that confiscatory property tax hike he voted in!

  8. The voters in Tallahassee reelected Dailey and Matlow so we continue with the expected 3 to 2 votes on just about all important issues. They’ll be certain to vote Curtis back in and possibly Porter in 2024. So, look forward to more years of the 3 to 2 standoff with the usual amount of corruption to continue. Voters never learn and usually just blindly reelect incumbents.

As the old saying goes, “I hope I’m wrong but I fear I’m right.”
