On Monday, Leon County Commissioner Brian Welch revealed the most recent design of the Northeast Park located on Centerville near Roberts Elementary School.
After much debate about the size and scope of the park, the most recent design includes two baseball fields, an all purpose field, an all purpose court, four pickleball courts and three volleyball courts.
The plans for the park are in the permitting process and construction should begin in August or September of this year.
In a social media post, Commissioner Welch stated, “We are excited to share the newest design for the Northeast Park. This design includes shaded bleachers and playgrounds as well as a concession stand. It also includes 3 sand volleyball courts rather than the previous 2. It is currently working through permitting at the City with plans for a groundbreaking in August/September of this year. We can’t wait. Thank you for your continued support of this project.”
@Laurie No area worthy on the west side. If you like the amenities, Move to the area that has them.
Mr. Welch moved the park out of the middle of his district (Thomasville road) to be closer to his house, his friends, his kids thus raising his property value- despite the major traffic implications that will be created.
When will the west side of your district get the park that we had planned or something other than a housing/appartment development or a Publix Mr. Welch?
If you live west of Thomasville road I hope you are paying attention to the locations our leaders push developments vs parks. Glad we have another option in the next election.
Too small to be worth it. Double the softball fields and triple the soccer fields.
