The Federal Railroad Administration may recommend bringing the Amtrak line back to Tallahassee. The Amtrak line running through Tallahassee has been left vacant since Hurricane Katrina damaged the track from New Orleans to Florida’s capitol in 2005. A proposed line in the Federal Railroad Administration’s national review would restart it, placing Tallahassee in the center of a route running from Dallas to Miami.
Two Tallahassee attorneys are being accused of sexually abusing a woman who worked for them last year. Gabriel and Sarah Warren were both arrested Tuesday and face felony charges of sexual battery in connection to the incident, court records indicate. The two were released the next day on a $10,000 bond each. They have both pleaded not guilty.
On Tuesday March 12th, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) issued a “Pollution Notice” relating to the overflow of 50,000 gallons of “untreated domestic wastewater” on Monday afternoon near the intersection of Capital Circle SE and Blair Stone Rd.

Florida State baseball remains undefeated with a record of 18-0. After a tight ball game yesterday, the Noles prevailed over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 4-3 to complete the sweep. Starting pitcher Conner Whittaker improved to 3-0, shaking off back-to-back home runs in the third inning to throw 6.2 frames in his weekend debut this year. Carson Dorsey earned his first save with 2.1 scoreless innings in relief.
Florida State Women’s Basketball has earned a No. 9 seed in what will be its 11th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, facing eighth-seeded Alabama in the first round held at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas.

Gov. Ron DeSantis announced on Friday that Florida has interdicted suspected illegal aliens on a vessel. Authorities said the incident occurred at the Sebastian Inlet last month. He said they were found with weapons, drugs and night-vision goggles, and that they were recklessly boating. According to the state, the incident occurred Feb. 29 near the Sebastian Inlet at 7:30 p.m.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis also recently announced chartered flights to Haiti to bring Americans back after the country fell into anarchy and gang control. DeSantis said the flights were focused on getting Christian missionaries out who were under threat of their lives. The announcement of rescue flights follows the Division of Emergency Management launching an assistance portal for Floridians and other Americans trapped in the Caribbean country amid yet another round of domestic unrest.

If Amtrak returns to Tallahassee, the city and county will be on the hook for building a new station which will get used for a year or two before the service is discontinued again. The previous service was terrible and slower and less reliable than bus service, even though every passenger’s fare on the route was subsidized $600 by American taxpayers. Propping up a dead horse wins few races.
Actually, there were TWO Public Pollution Notices, the second being a 60,000 gallon spill.
Both occurring within days of the large rainfall we had the prior weekend, an indication of the on going infiltration of water daily and, especially, during rainfalls causing an overload to the aged and leaky sewage system.

My experience on Amtrak, almost 20 years ago to/from Pensacola, was horrible. Train ran 3 hours late and the stench from the bathrooms stunk up the passenger cars.
No food/beverages.
Excellent! I can walk to the train station, armed to protect myself, and catch a train to Jacksonville so I can get a flight out!
Are we still trying to make trains a thing? I guess if the rail is already there, have at it. Just run it till it meets Brightline. And then let Brightline start taking over the route back to TLH. Amtrak is done for and cant exist without tax dollars.
Ill stick to planes and cars. Faster and cheaper.
ANOTHER RAW SEWAGE SPILL? WTH is going on? At all the Campaign Debates that I participated in since 2015 I have said, more Preventative Maintenance needs to be scheduled if ANY is being done. Most of the Spills are caused by lack of Maintenance on the Pumps, Motors, Valves, etc.
I wouldn’t mind seeing Amtrak come back to Tallahassee just remember, it wasn’t a big Money Maker for Tallahassee so we don’t need to spend $Millions on this project.
