Leon County School Board news briefs from the May 28th meeting addresses parental notification policy (3-2 vote), new contract for Board attorney, and out of county travel.

Leon County Schools approve $1.7 million for Godby High School repairs due to flooding. The vendor notes that more funds may be needed to complete repairs.

More details were released Tuesday regarding a boating incident that left one dead in Wakulla County on Memorial Day. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) said Tuesday that a 60-year-old man died Monday evening after a boat, occupied by him and four other people including two kids, became swamped with water and capsized in the Ochlocknee Bay near Roho Landing. As a result, all five occupants went into the water.

No. 5 National Seed Florida State Men’s Golf took down North Carolina, 3-1, and Georgia Tech, 3-2, to reach its first NCAA Match Play Championship on Tuesday at the Omni La Costa North Course in Carlsbad, Calif. The Seminoles will face Auburn on Wednesday night beginning at 5:25 p.m. ET/2:25 p.m. PT. Former President Donald Trump issued endorsements on social media for nearly the entire Florida Republican congressional delegation over the weekend. Many of the lawmakers endorsed Trump early on in the presidential primary. Additionally, Florida Republican Sen. Rick Scott is up for reelection, and has already been endorsed by Trump.

new study found the impact that Florida’s Heartbeat Protection Act has on parts of the U.S. eastern coast’s access to the procedure before and after the law’s implementation. The impact of Florida’s ban has also effected wait times in other states, with practically the entire eastern half of Georgia, nearly all of South Carolina and parts of North Carolina all facing virtually no availability for abortions within a two week period.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection recently announced Caladesi Island State Park in Dunedin-Clearwater and Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park in Naples as being two of the best beaches in America. According to Dr. Beach, the report ranked Caladesi Island State Park in fourth place and Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park in eighth place. The two were the only Florida parks in the top 10.

T-Mobile announced yesterday it will acquire most of US Cellular’s wireless operations, including around 4.5 million customers and 620 stores, in a $4.4B deal. The transaction, which combines cash and up to $2B in debt, aims to improve coverage and speed in rural areas by providing US Cellular customers with access to T-Mobile’s 5G network.

A New York jury will begin deliberating today on whether former President Donald Trump is guilty of falsifying business records in 2016 to cover up an alleged 2006 sexual encounter with adult film star Stormy Daniels. A guilty verdict would mark the first-ever criminal conviction of a former US president.

  1. SO, if nothing else, the Florida’s Heartbeat Protection Act is exposing how many Abortions happening are actually NOT related to Mothers Health and to Rapes.
