The Tallahassee City Commission met Wednesday afternoon a day after progressives lost their bid to take majority control of the commission against a national backdrop of losses for Democratic candidates.

City voters approved all five of the city charter amendments placed on the ballot by the Tallahassee city commission.

Tuesday night was a good night for incumbents in local government. In the only city race, Tallahassee City Commissioner Curtis Richardson defeated Dot Inman-Johnson by approximately 1,200 votes in what was likely Richardson’s last campaign. The win means there will be no change in the make-up of the city commission this election cycle.

  1. Jim and Sense – you can be sick about it but I appreciate you’re not gonna blame people because you’re in the minority. We can disagree but Matlow has made an enemy out of anyone he disagrees with. Porter wants us all to pat her head and when the majority of this community rolls their eyes and chuckles – she clutches her pearls and everyone is so terrible. The new Dozier (who the City resoundly rejected in a general election and Porter should be quaking in her shoes now that she has to compete at the Varsity level. It’s not about the majority – the majority is more reflective of the community. hope everyone can work together and not vilify when they disagree.

  2. So, once again it looks like nothing will change at City Hall. The usual 3-2 votes will continue for at least the next two years. Voters must be very happy and pleased with how things are going in Tallahassee. After all, they gave the commissioners a 100% raise.

Also, in Leon County, no changes were made to the county commission, So, the county voters must be very happy and pleased too.

Carry on commissioners, we really like what you’re doing.
