Lincoln Boys Golf Wins at Capital City as Chiles, Maclay Clash at Hilaman

On Sep. 9th, two high school boys golf tournaments took place in Leon County featuring six Leon County schools including Lincoln, Maclay, Chiles, Godby, Leon and Florida High. Maclay, Chiles, Godby and Mariana played a 9-hole regular season tournament at Hilaman Golf Course while Leon hosted Lincoln and Florida High in a 9-hole regular season match at Capital City Country Club.

The Lincoln boys golf team won their second match of the 2025-2026 season winning back-to-back regular season tournaments. As a team, Lincoln shot a collective 149 (+5) with golfers Chase Fleischer (Jr.) and Brandon Hawkes (Sr.) leading the Trojans, both finishing the round at even par (36). Following Lincoln, Leon claimed second place as a team shooting 174 (+30) and Florida High placed third with a total stroke score of 187 (+43)

Other notable individual performances included Leons Solomon Hardy (So.) and Lincolns Bryce Matthews (Sr.), who placed joint third, shooting a 38 (+2). Lincoln’s Ethan Lafuria (Sr.) placed fifth with a round of 39 (+3).

Chiles, Maclay, Godby and Mariana

Chiles and Maclay shot the same score as a team finishing the round tied for first place with both teams shooting a collective 157 (+13). Mariana placed third as a team with a total score of 164 (+20). Although Godby competed in the tournament, they did not compete as a team as they entered one individual golfer.

Notable individual performances from Leon County golfers included Chiles’ Rhys Cochran (So.) placing first with a round of 36 (E), Maclay’s Hayden Chaires (Sr.) placing second with a round of 37 (+1), Maclay’s Hudson Hoyt (Fr.) placing joint fourth with a round of 39 (+3), Chiles’ Alex parker (Sr.) placing joint fourth with a round of 39 (+3), and Chiles’ Asher Hall placing joint fourth with a round of 39 (+3). Godby’s Grady Richardson (Sr.) finished the round six over par (42) placing 12th out of a field of 18.
