As the college basketball season started in early November, two Florida High alumni have made a notable contribution to their new teams. Tre Donaldson and Tonie Morgan are not only both alumni from the same high school but they both transferred to different teams to finish their senior season on a high note. Tonie Morgan made a name for herself as a standout guard at Georgia Tech from 2023-2025 while Tre Donaldson played a pivotal role as a guard with Michigan and Auburn. Tre Donaldson currently plays for the Miami Hurricanes and Tonie Morgan plays for Kentucky.
Tre Donaldson, Miami Hurricanes
The Hurricanes are 9-2 with Tre Donaldson starting in 10 out of 11 games as a point guard. Donaldson has 167 points averaging 15.2 a game and leads the team with 70 assists. Miami’s two losses were both to top two teams against Florida and BYU with Donadson having 13 points against the Gators and 12 points against the cougars. Donaldson is also tied for the most double-doubles with assists in the country. Donaldsons season high is 23 points against Bethune-Cookman on Nov. 6th during the Geico Jacksonville Hoops Showdown. Notable upcoming games for the Hurricanes include Wake forest on Jan 7th and Clemson on January 17th.
Tonie Morgan, Kentucky Wildcats
After a great season with Georgia Tech, Tonie Morgan transferred to Kentucky for her senior season and has helped the Wildcats rank in the top 15 of the AP Poll. The 12th ranked Wildcats are 11-1 with their one loss coming to seventh ranked Maryland. Morgan is the second best scorer on her team with 154 points while she also leads her team in assists with 102. One of Kentucky’s most notable wins of the regular season was a 72-62 away win over 21st ranked Louisville on Nov.22. In that game, Morgan lead her team in points and assists with 19 and 7, respectfully. Morgan’s best performance came on Nov. 26 against Maryland in the Puerto Rico Shootout with a season high of 22 points. Notable upcoming games for the Wildcats include 5th ranked LSU on Jan. 1st and 8th ranked Oklahoma on Jan. 11th.
