Community Redevelopment Agency Meeting

On Monday, November 25th there is a Community Redevelopment Agency meeting that begins at 11:00 AM in the City Hall Chambers. Among the issues addressed will be the 2012 Annual Report, the establishment of a North Monroe Redevelopment Area, and an update from Commissioner Gill Ziffer on issues related to the homeless shelter.

The CRA Annual report shows that the Tallahassee Community Redevelopment Agency had total assets of $11,085,000: $9,335,000 in the form of cash, $1,236,000 in securities lending collateral, and $514,000 in receivables.  The Agency had $2,486,000 in liabilities, and no long-term debt.  At the end of the fiscal year, the total fund balance was $8,599,000. During the fiscal year, the Agency spent or committed approximately $12.5 million in prior, current and future fiscal year funds in support of various programs and projects, including operational expenses.

City Commission Meeting

On Wednesday, March 27th there is a City Commission meeting in City Hall Chambers. During this meeting Commissioners will vote on the reimbursement of Mayor Marks legal fees, vote to increase non-fuel related electric charges by $7.9 million on an annual basis, and authorize a reduction in fuel-related electric charges by $12 million on an annual basis, effective April 1, 2013.

Marks paid attorney Barry Richard and his firm a total of $86,026.36 for attorney’s fees and costs.  By letter dated March 4, 2013, Mayor Marks delivered a request to the City Attorney’s Office requesting an analysis of the fees and costs paid to determine how much of his out of pocket costs would be determined by a neutral party to be reasonable in similar professional circumstances. The City Attorney is recommending to the Commission that the City reimburse the Mayor a total of $55,275.61 for reasonable attorney’s fees and costs.

Sales Tax Committee Meeting

On Thursday, March 28, 2013 the Leon County Sales Tax Committee will hold a meeting on the first floor of the Leon County LeRoy Collins Main Library at 4:00 p.m. The main topic of discussion is the infrastructure project list.
