The local chapter of the Florida Police Benevolent Association (PBA) has announced two endorsements for the City Commission races.
In the race for City Commission Seat 2, the PBA endorsed Curtis Richardson over Diana Oropallo.
Commenting on the endorsement, Richardson told WCTV that “they feel that I will be willing to work with them as a commissioner to make sure that they have the resources that they need in order to be a major component,” said Richardson.
In the other City Commission race, candidate Steve Stewart was endorsed by the Big Bend Chapter of the Florida Police Benevolent Association over his opponent, Nancy Miller.
The letter of endorsement said the PBA “is proud to inform you of its endorsement of your candidacy for election to the Tallahassee City Commission, Seat 3.”
Stewart said, “I am proud to have the support of the many Tallahassee police officers. There is no greater calling in public service than to go out each day and keep our community safe. It is time that public safety and our police officers receive the respect that they rightly deserve.”
With public safety being a significant issue in the community, both candidates said the PBA endorsement is important for their respective City Commission campaigns.
The election for City Commission is August 26, 2014.
