City to Consider Planning Commission Appointments

The City Commission will consider the School Board’s appointment of Martha Chauncey and the appointment of Ian Waldick and Leslie Jacobs to the Tallahassee-Leon County Planning Commission/Local Planning Agency at the Wednesday commission meeting.

The board is comprised of three members appointed by the Leon County Commission, three members appointed by the City Commission, and one member appointed by the Leon County School Board. Each term runs for three years and eligible members may be reappointed.

The Planning Commission is responsible for making recommendations to local elected officials related to development, zoning, reviewing and regulating administrative codes, and other planning activities.

Martha Chauncey will be filling Pat Weaver’s School Board seat, who resigned on June 30. Ms. Chauncey currently works for the Leon County School Board as a program specialist. She is recommended by Christine Needham and Lisa Baggs.

Ian Waldwick, who works as an attorney for the Florida State Supreme Court, who will be filling the seat vacated by Barbara Walwick. Mr. Walwick’s serve his term until June 2021. He is recommended by Courtney Brewer and Anthony Ferraro.

Leslie Jacobs is appointed to fill Lucas Lindsey’s seat, who also resigned on June 30. Ms. Jacobs will serve for the remainder of Mr. Lindsey’s term until June 2020. She is recommended by Pat Gleason from the Special Counsel for Open Government, and from Deputy Attorney General Trish Collins.

Christina Armes

Christina Armes is a senior studying History and Spanish at Florida Stats University and a government researcher who recently interned at the American Foreign Policy Council in Washington, D.C. She has also previously worked for the Institute on World War II and the Human Experience as an Assistant to the Director for Research and Public Relations.
