LCS Approves Construction Items at July 27th Board Meeting

At the July 27th Leon County School Board meeting, officials approved the following construction items.

  • The Leon County School Board approved the SAIL High School greenhouse project, which will be funded by the Furniture, Fixture & Equipment Fund, and is expected to cost $14,890. The greenhouse will be located at the East field on the campus and purchased and setup by Southeast Portable Buildings.
  • The Board approved the W.T. Moore Elementary School Walking Track, funded by the PTO. This project needs to be designed first and the school has received the cost for the design and has also received a proposed estimate in the amount of $39,000.
  • The School Impact Analysis report indicated there is no negative impact on Leon County Schools with the development of two single family units in Clapham Residential Subdivision or from the 54 single and multi-family units being developed at the 5701 and 5723 blocks on Thomasville Road.
  • The Board also approved the installation on a reading garden for Pineview Elementary School. The garden was donated by an Eagle Scout Candidate and the Boy Scouts of America Suwannee River Area Council and the proposed estimated cost of materials is $1,467.
