Biden, DeSantis Clash on Vaccine Mandates

Biden, DeSantis Clash on Vaccine Mandates

The News Service of Florida

President Joe Biden expressed disappointment Friday in Gov. Ron DeSantis and other Republican governors who have criticized a White House directive to require COVID-19 vaccinations and tests for large numbers of public and private workers.

Appearing at a Washington, D.C. middle school to urge parents to get children vaccinated if eligible, Biden initially replied “have at it” when asked about opposition to his new vaccination requirements. Biden’s plan, in part, will require vaccinations for workers at health facilities that are part of the Medicare and Medicaid programs, executive branch workers and contractors doing business with the federal government.

“Look, I am so disappointed that particularly some Republican governors have been so cavalier with the health of these kids, so cavalier with the health of their communities,” Biden said. “We’re playing for real here. This isn’t a game.” Biden also is directing the Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration to develop a rule requiring vaccinations or weekly tests for people at all employers with 100 or more workers.

On Thursday, DeSantis said “we will fight” any effort to implement a vaccination rule through the Department of Labor. “I don’t think they have the legal authority to do that,” DeSantis. “But we obviously would want to support protections for people who are just trying to earn a living.”

DeSantis said such a mandate could alienate people, who would then have less incentive to get the vaccine. “How could we get to the point in the country where you would want to have someone lose their job because of their choice about the vaccine or not?” DeSantis said. “I mean, look, some folks have reasons … maybe they’re making the wrong decision, but to put them out of work, and not let them earn a living because of this, I just think that that’s fundamentally wrong.”

  1. You Republicans keep ignoring the truth, but the truth is you can get vaccinated and wear a mask…

–Or join the hundreds of whom have been hospitalized with COVID HERE IN TALLAHASSEE since August of 2021

–Or join the 100+ people who DIED OF COVID HERE IN TALLAHASSEE since August of 2021.

That’s hundreds of admissions to TMH and Capital Regional in about the last month and half.

The 100 people who died recently are from TMH because Capital Regional has been less forthcoming about their figures.

However, Capital Regional rented a truck to hold the extra bodies overflowing their morgue.

You can ignore COVID, but, if you do, you can join them.

    Get vaccinated.

    Wear a mask.

  2. The numbers are crystal clear, but I guess “follow the science” only applies when it fits the correct narrative.

Less than 1% of all COVID deaths in this country are in kids under 18. The data shows that as the ages go up, so does the chance of death. And as everyone that’s been paying attention knows, the vast majority of deaths are in people with specific ailments (underlying conditions) that react most severely to the virus.

The number of people that have contracted one of the COVID strains, and recovered, is nearing 100,000,000 in the U.S. The natural immunity that comes with having had the virus is stronger against reinfection than the “vaccine” offers against any infection. Yet the government mandate is that those hundred million must receive the vaccine or pay for a COVID test once a week. That’s just insanity.

We do need to follow the science. But to do that we need data. Real data. ALL the data. Not just select, sanitized data that paints a particular agenda. Personally, I’d like to see the numbers broken apart by age, specific conditions (heart disease, lung issues, obesity, etc.), and outcomes.

  3. @Barb….guvnor tried telling cruise lines (private employers) what they could do. How do you distinguish the two mandates? Private companies with over so many employees have always been bound by federal mandates and are required to provide constitutional protections to their employees. There’s ranges…over 500 definitely are bound, but smaller businesses could be exempt from discrimination laws under title 7, fair labor standards, OSHA, FDA labeling, etc.

  4. @ Wonderer… I understand that reality can be hard to deal with given today’s left-wing lunacy. Log-off of Fakebook, Twidiot, Instascam, and Sick Toc for a few weeks, and try to open your malleable mind to the reality that surrounds you.

    … you’ll thank me later

  5. If Biden wants to wear a mask or if anyone wants to wear masks that’s their right and privilege, and those who don’t also have that right and privilege. But to undo the border of what Trump did during a pandemic is the absolute heinous, treasonous, inhumane, dereliction of duty action I have ever seen. Then to turn around and order a mask mandate is bizarre to say the least.

Have the “Impeach Biden” masks sold out? I heard they sold out in seconds…

  6. Well, Governor, you could start by making these hospitals in Florida end their mandates. That would be a nice start and something you could actually control versus just trying to spar with Biden for national publicity.

  7. That Dementia Joe Biden carved out an exemption for his USPS union pals (those who transported the fraudulent computer-generated ballots to key states in order to steal the 2020 election) tells you all you need to know about the China Bio-Weapon Flu Scamdemic.

Dementia Joe and his Sadministration are an absolute treasonous disgrace to our Nation… and the Establishment Republicans who sit our their manicured hands and do nothing about it are complicit in the destruction of our Republic. They ALL suck, and they ALL need to go. The DC toilet is full of excrement and needs a complete flushing from top to bottom.

Stay strong Governor, and my fellow “true” Americans… the racist, fascist, communist, and anti-America DemoKKKrats will lose the civil war they are pushing for… AGAIN. Barry started it and Hillary was suppose to complete it, but God and President Trump stopped it… now Barry has a puppet to pick up and run toward the goal of destroying this Great Nation.

May God continue to bless and protect America, Her true President, Her Constitution, Her Laws, Her Sovereignty, and Her People.

  8. Desantis hopefully understands he is up against Obama’s 3rd term and Biden is struggling to read Obama’s directions on the teleprompter and also struggling to pretend Obama is not calling the shots.
If Desantis is preparing to battle Biden then Obama is going to pull the rug out from under Desantis each and every time.
Get real Sir you are fighting Obama 3.0 for our country.

  9. I’d like to think this would finally move some people towards breaking up the union, but I’m not sure people get it yet. They’ll just relect the same tyrants year after year thinking it can’t get worse.

  10. Our unelected marxist President does not have the authority to mandate anything to private employers. Please, note, Congress is exempt from his latest edict.

He is trying to divert the national conversation away from his shameful and cruel policies at the southern border and in Afghanistan and his failing economy and subsequent out of control inflation.

    Trump won.

  11. Never, ever apologize for your freedoms or feel guilty. It is textbook totalitarianism.

Absolute control starts with a fear (We have COVID!), progresses to guilt masked as a “greater good” (You must mask for others!), then seizes personal freedoms (mask suggestions become vaccine mandates). Each step is aided by a complicit media, a cadre of experts, and “settled science.” Eventually, the “kind hearted” are exposed as angry dictators. (Anyone hear Biden’s tone on Thursday?)

The formula is simple: 33% of the populace is immediately crippled by the fear; 33% eventually cave to the persistent onslaught of guilt; and, after time, the final 33% are forced to comply through force, arrest, or wage negation. The remaining 1%? Oh, they’re the ruling class: The experts, the bureaucrats, the billionaires. You know, the folks “who care.”

So I ask, at what phase do we now find ourselves?
