PBA Calls for “Immediate Removal” of Tallahassee Police Review Board Member

Following a story by Tallahassee Reports, the Florida PBA Big Bend Chapter is calling for the removal of Citizens Police Review Board (CPRB) member Taylor Biro for “promoting an inappropriate, incendiary, and anti-police message at a recent CPRB meeting.”

Chapter President Richard Murphy, in a press release, provided below, stated:

“It is deeply disturbing that respect and professionalism are apparently not reciprocated on the Citizens Police Review Board by some individuals. When CPRB Member Taylor Biro brought a coffee mug to a recent CPRB meeting containing a vitriolic anti-police message, she immediately abdicated her fiduciary responsibility to serve on the CPRB fairly and without bias towards the police. Accordingly, the PBA is calling for the immediate removal of Taylor Biro from the CPRB.”

The incident related to the mug was discussed at the October 12th Tallahassee City Commission by Commissioner Dianne Williams-Cox when she said she was told the mug displayed a “F the police” message.

During the city commission meeting, City Commissioner Jeremy Matlow responded to Dianne Williams-Cox’s comments by stating that many different perspective were needed on the CPRB.

After a TR article about the meeting was published, Matlow has taken the position that the message on the cup was different that what was discussed by Commissioner Williams-Cox.

Murphy ended the PBA statement by saying, “Both our members and the public deserve the same level of fairness and respect that we demonstrate each and every day. We also strongly agree with Tallahassee Inspector General Douglas Sutton, who previously called out Biro for a biased opinion column she wrote, which could give a negative  impression of the board to Tallahassee Police Officers. The public needs to have faith in our policy makers and the police deserve our policy makers to act fairly and faithfully in return.”

FLORIDA PBA BIG BEND CHAPTER PRESIDENT RICHARD MURPHY CALLS FOR THE IMMEDIATE REMOVAL OF CPRB MEMBER TAYLOR BIRO FOR PROMOTING AN INAPPROPRIATE, INCENDIARY, AND ANTI POLICE MESSAGE AT A RECENT CPRB MEETING

TALLAHASSEE–The following statement can be attributed to Florida PBA Big Bend Chapter President Richard Murphy:

“Every day, Tallahassee police officers sacrifice their personal safety, as they work courageously to respond to dangerous situations where public safety is threatened. When we respond to emergencies, we don’t ask the victims of a crime what their political views are. We perform our duties without bias and with the utmost respect and professionalism for our fellow citizens. It is deeply disturbing that respect and professionalism are apparently not reciprocated on the Citizens Police Review Board by some individuals. When CPRB Member Taylor Biro brought a coffee mug to a recent CPRB meeting containing a vitriolic anti-police message, she immediately abdicated her fiduciary responsibility to serve on the CPRB fairly and without bias towards the police. Accordingly, the PBA is calling for the immediate removal of Taylor Biro from the CPRB. Both our members and the public deserve the same level of fairness and respect that we demonstrate each and every day.

Maybe good news. Taylor Biro still has the Citizen Police Academy requirement to complete by year's end . I've requested the transcripts from the last two Citizens Police Review Board meetings. I Want to know - who said what ?

The November 3rd, meeting had a public audience of two. Some suggestions:

    - Stop allowing the virtual option for a Member not attending. The Zoom is not the format for
    one's stream of consciousness.
-If you still need to wear a mask---please lower it before you speak into the mic. You're safe.

Thank you committee volunteers with the best intentions. Don't let the colorful and loquacious silence you.
Any bet Brio completes the Police Academy in forty days.

I say the all the Citizens Review Board members be removed and the board dissolved. The only purpose it serves is to handcuff law enforcement and make it easier for people to sue and officers to get disciplined for doing a very, very difficult job.

It is amusing how white Leftists, like Taylor Biro, think they know what is best for troubled communities. What is her solution to the violent crime and general lawlessness LEOs encounter there?

What is the process for having a board member removed for insubordination, conduct on becoming, etc?

Have there ever been any board members removed from any of the city or county government boards?

Steve just chewed Matlow up and spit him out on The Steve Stuart Show. Matlow tried to counter with lame lies, accusations, and tryin to fast talk over Steve in the rude typically liberal lame fashion.
    Score:
    Steve 100
    Jeremy 0

@WhiskeyTF -- I'll pay for the t-shirt if you'll wear it to the meeting!

A mug/cup saying "Abolish" the police is just as inappropriate. If anyone walks into City Hall with a t-shirt with the f word on it I would hope they would be nicely asked to leave and if they refuse then escorted out by TPD.

The Board needs to do something about what happened such as removing the perpetrator from the board. If they do not they are derelict in their duty and they should be disbanded.

@ Tewa... please present the facts that support your false claims of harm caused within our communities of color by LEOs. And while you’re at it, please present a list of people of color that have been murdered by our LEOs over the past two years, juxtaposed to a list that have been murdered by members within of our own communities of color... take your time, I’ll wait.

ALL Lives Matter... and so do facts.

I'll recommend that Keta Biro spend some time at the intersection of Basin and Alabama Friday night.

The cup said "Abolish" the police, he took it as F**k em. And her responsibility is to foster oversight of the police who have repeatedly harmed communities that they have overpoliced in the midst of criminalizing poverty. She needs to remain there, f*** that. And yes, you can wear a shirt that says f*** Matlow. I think he's straight though.

I stated from the beginning that that sham of a Board was a mistake. The entire premise of its existence is based on a lie and false narrative of a systemic problem that is nonexistent nor support by any facts whatsoever.

Shut the whole sham down. It is counterproductive and detrimental to the greater goal of a civil and law abiding society.

Our City Commissioners knew these were the people who would serve on the Review Board. Anti-police, pro criminal, community activists hoping to change the system. However, the buckled to the pressure and created it to appease those who yell the loudest. More “feel good” policies that do nothing to fix anything.

If she’s not removed for showing her anti police bias, she should be removed for being too stupid to comprehend the significance of her comment.

Matlow, Porter, and woke progressives are not going to like this latest input into their personal hate the Police firestorm by the PBA.
But there remains a sticky problem for Matlow, Porter and our minority of oh so vocal and opinionated woke progressives.
See the PBA is very close to an employee union if not an actual union.
Well unions are supposed to be all good and beloved by the left and especially by Matlow, Porter, and local woke progressives. Oh Noooo what to do now?
Well the only course of action for the woke ones will be to seek the sage advice of the shabbly dressed, in need of some serious grooming ( no not that kind of grooming ), I'm talking get a haircut and shave off that ragamuffin mess off the face....Matlow.
Matlow is woke and shabby but even he will relent to the PBA. So expect Taylor Biro to disappear soon from the Review Board.

If the member remains on the CPRB, can I go to the next City Commission meeting with a shirt that says “F—- Jeremy Matlow?

Que up that PI from Tampa. His scrutiny of the housing authority and the former city manager were devastating for the corrupt players in city government. Sic him on this.

"she immediately abdicated her fiduciary responsibility to serve on the CPRB fairly and without bias towards the police."

This is exactly why she should be removed.. "fiduciary responsibility" has been compromised. It should not take an act of Congress for someone to show leadership at the onset.

"Accordingly, the PBA is calling for the immediate removal of Taylor Biro from the CPRB." Agreed.
