At a meeting on Thursday, the Leon County’s Children’s Services Council (CSC) board voted to give the executive director – Cecka Rose Green – a raise. Based on an evaluation of Green’s performance, the board voted to extend Green’s contract and to increase her salary by $5,000 to $125,000. Paul Mitchell, the board’s treasurer, was the only vote against the item. In addition to the raise, board member O’Bryant recommended a 3% cost-of-living raise for Green. This will be discussed during the next meeting in January.

Also, the board reported that the current millage rate of 0.375% should result in $10-$11 million in tax revenue during the 2022-23.

TR’s summary of the December 13, 2022 Leon County Commission meeting is now available.

A Leon County Sheriff’s Deputy, Jarrod Eldridge, has been terminated and is facing charges after an undercover operation revealed that he is being accused sexting a person he believed was a 14-year-old girl. Eldridge allegedly wrote about engaging in sexual activities and sent pictures of himself during the exchanges. Eldridge was arrested Thursday on one count of using a computer to seduce, solicit or lure a child, and one count of transmitting material harmful to minors by electronic device or equipment.

A Tallahassee man has been indicted by a grand jury on charges of first-degree murder. Davhon Young, Sr. was arrested in October and was accused strangling a woman and dumping her body on Wiley Road in northern Leon County. The woman was from Valdosta, and court records say they met up for sex in Tallahassee and then proceeded to kill her, hide her body, and transport the body to discard it.

Florida News

Florida Insurance Commissioner David Altmeier has resigned from his post after six years of service. His resignation comes as a new Florida law is coming into place as a lobbying ban kicks in and prevents Florida’s top regulators and agency secretaries from lobbying the Florida Legislature, or the offices they once worked at, for six years. Florida Department of Economic Opportunity CEO Dane Eagle resigned from his post for the same reason.

As President Joe Biden signed the “Respect for Marriage Act,” Florida State Sen. Tina Polsky has filed legislation that is seeking to repeal language from Florida’s statutes that bans same-sex marriages. “Now there are at least three bodies that are supreme to the Florida State Legislature that say gay marriage is legal,” Polsky said. “It’s time for this unconstitutional, illegal statute (to come) off the books and say to the LGBTQ community that we support your marriages.”

  1. “Heck, in Biden’s America, illegal aliens get better assistance that American citizens on the streets.”

Correction: In Mayor Dailey, Dianne Williams-Cox, and Curtis Richardson’s America nonprofits are used as ways to buy votes and conduits to funnel taxpayer funds into their campaigns, out of the sunshine meetings with nonprofits are held in their homes where they are given priority for funds, therefore millions of dollars of funds are not used for their intended purpose, e.g. the CSC. Then the nonprofits further misuse their funds by attending the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce junkets which we all know is a re-election campaign event paid for by taxpayers. ” Suffer the little children”.

The Attorney General’s office needs to investigate this long ongoing farce.

  2. ~ true story ~ The wife of a close friend of mine worked in the cafeteria of a Public Indoctrination System (not here, but in Florida). When school ends for summer break, they continue to “feed the children” (insert wink here) breakfast and lunch throughout the summer at taxpayer expense. The only caveat is that the parent has to come to the school to pick up the taxpayer funded food. Every year – when school ends and the summer program begins – the administration would gather all the cafeteria workers and “remind” them that are not to make any disparaging remarks or questionable comments (even to each other) about the line of Mercedes, Lexus, Cadillacs, and other high priced vehicles waiting to pick up the free food for their “less fortunate” children.

I personally had similar experiences when I would volunteer to handout our taxpayer funded Thanksgiving meals complete with a big turkey and ALL the fix’ins. Same with the Christmas toy giveaways. The amazingly sad part about it all, is that there are fixed-income seniors, veterans, and other Americans who are truly in need of a helping hand. But they can’t get it because of the system gamers. Heck, in Biden’s America, illegal aliens get better assistance that American citizens on the streets.

  3. “Suffer the little children”…

Until you’ve been behind someone in the grocery line who breaks down in tears whose EBT card was declined and she is unable to pay for diapers and the food she chose to buy you could tell she was buying the most things that would stretch into many meals, people in intersections with babies asking for money, volunteering to pack backpacks with food for the children to take home… instead of flinging absurd names because you don’t want to admit that your friends and brothers and sisters are part of the problem in misusing our taxpayer funds maybe then progress can be made.

Alinsky and Marxicrat word salads don’t help feed the children and neither does the CSC by giving $100,000 to the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce. Those who are supposed to help the most are the most tone deaf.

  4. Food in·se·cu·ri·ty
    noun
    1.
the condition of not having access to sufficient food, or food of an adequate quality, to meet one’s basic needs.

Another example of Alinsky Semantics 101. Much like the so-called Inflation Reduction Act, the DC R&D Establishment Swamp – in collusion with the Marxicrat Media PACs – use emotional semantics to manipulate the malleable into supporting increased taxes and wasteful spending.

You can’t drive, bus, or walk a mile in any direction here in Tallahassee and not find food… heck, call a local taxpayer funded social agency and they’ll even buy it for ya.

“Give a person a sandwich, and you’ll fee them for a day. Teach them how to fill out a job application, and they’ll be able to feed themselves”

  5. The CSC… another taxpayer boondoggle, a front for leftist liberals to use as a slush fund for their next campaign re-election.

Governor DeSantis should investigate these Democratic Party driven slush funds disguised as nonprofits. Cecka Rose Green is the one who diverted CSC funds into the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce. Someone should trace where that expenditure actually went. Is it ironic that Skip Foster was getting paid by the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce at the same time during an election cycle?

Meanwhile crime, homelessness, and food insecurity increases.

  6. Another perfect example of Government corruption and waste so clearly presented by this piece on the CSC and its director. This scam is barely up and running, and they’re already giving the hand-picked director a raise to $125k a year?… AND … she wants an additional COLA as well? WTHIGO in this town?

As best I can tell, the CSC and it’s director have only come up with one idea so far… to spend the some of $11 million a year – by joining the plethora of other taxpayer funded organization – in feeding the children of the lazy and irresponsible Entitlement Mattress crowd. Oh, they have the time and money to hit the clubs, get expensive hair extensions, shinny new finger nails, bovine bling, weed, and the latest iPhone… but they don’t have the time and money to get off their lazy tail-ends and make their various baby-daddy kids some breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The latest Federal data shows that adult and childhood obesity and diabetes rates have doubled+ in the past few years alone. Could it be that the Feds and the Pharmaceutical Industrial Complex is colluding to create an entire generation or more of lazy, fat, slovenly, ill-educated blobs… solely dependent on government and pharmaceuticals?

As I’ve stated before… bombs and bullets are not the only way to destroy a country.

  7. Democrat Sen. Tina Polsky says three supreme bodies have now said same sex marriage is legal. Therefore, she thinks the Florida legislature should now also support same sex marriage. Whatever happened to “We the people”? “freedom of religion”? “democracy”?

  8. Related to the local news from the Children’s Services Council of Leon County (CSC Leon), Green did not ask the board to consider a 3% cost-of-living raise. It was suggested by Councilmember O’Bryant.

  9. There are Bureau Chiefs at the Florida Department of State that barely make 60k a year and we’re paying this woman 130k a year to do what? They voted to give her a 5000 dollar raise becasue she can’t get by on 125K in Tallahassee?

Everything in this town is getting worse, not better. I gotta get outta here…

  10. Bryan Desloge tried to warn everyone about the Leon County’s Children’s Services Council and that’s why I voted against them.
