The latest reports show that Leon County lost 178 jobs in January. There were 156,218 people working in Leon County in January compared to last month’s revised employment number of 156,396.
The January unemployment rate came in at 2.7%, up from the 2.3% reported in December. The unemployment increase was due in part to more people looking for work when compared to last month.
One year ago, the January 2022 unemployment rate was 3.8%. In January, 2021 the unemployment rate was 5.7%.
The number of people working in January 2023 was 4,`543 more than in January 2022.
The January 2023 labor force – those looking for jobs – came in at 160,484 which was 2,815 greater than the number reported in January 2022.
