FLORIDA NEWS

Duke Energy has mobilized 4500 power pros, including line technicians, vegetation workers, damage assessors and support personnel to the Tampa Bay region in the event the storm shifts eastward. The hurricane expected to make landfall north of Tampa Bay sometime early Wednesday, and the utility company said it was closely monitoring the storm’s track.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has paused his presidential campaign as a result of the shooting in Jacksonville and ahead of the coming storm. “We’re locked in on this, we’re going to get this job done,” DeSantis said.

Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy said a “racialized culture” and “mental health deficiencies” were to blame for the shooting in Jacksonville. “The reality is we have a mental health epidemic in this country. There are reports that this particular individual, the perpetrator was indeed evaluated for mental health deficiencies as well,” Ramaswamy said.
