On Wednesday, Dec. 20, 21-year-old Za’mond Durant turned himself in to the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) following the fatal shooting that occurred on Monday, Dec. 18.

TPD released more details related to the Wednesday crash involving a flipped TPD cruiser.

Lawton Chiles High School Principal Joseph Burgess has announced he is challenging Rocky Hanna and will run for Leon County Superintendent. Burgess said that running has been a dream of his and that he would make the students the focus of his campaign. Burgess, who has served as Chiles High principal since 2012, plans to continuing serving his current role while running for superintendent.

Florida State has called a special board of trustees meeting for Friday morning. While no official reason was given for the meeting, sources indicated to ESPN that the board is expected to discuss its long-term athletics future.

Focusing on what has become one of the most emotionally charged issues in the state and nation, a trial ended Thursday in a constitutional challenge to Florida restrictions on medical care for transgender children and adults.

For the second time this week, a poll of New Hampshire voters finds Florida’s Governor with 6% support. An American Research Group survey shows a two-person race, with just 4 points separating Donald Trump (33%) and Nikki Haley (29%). Ron DeSantis is 7 points behind Chris Christie (13%) and just 1 point ahead of Vivek Ramaswamy.

The Florida Legislature is considering a bill that would intensify scrutiny over financial institutions’ management of customer accounts. The bill, CS/HB 585, sponsored by the Insurance and Banking Subcommittee and Rep. Bob Rommel, targets the practices of banks and other financial institutions in suspending, terminating, or otherwise restricting access to customer accounts.

  1. The School Superintendent Race should be very interesting. I can’t wait to see what Hanna has to say about him since he has been a Principal at Chiles for 12 Years with no issues plus the past Jobs in the LCS System. Yes Sir, very interesting.
