The latest reports show that Leon County lost 1,151 jobs in December when compared to last month. There were 160,762 people working in Leon County in December compared to last month’s revised employment number of 161,913.
Despite the loss of jobs, the December unemployment rate decreased to 3.0% from the 3.2%, reported last month as the number of people in the work force fell from 167,199 in November to 165,720 in December.
One year ago, the December 2022 unemployment rate was 2.3%.
The Leon County Jobs Report, provided below, shows the number of people working in December 2023 was 4,366 more than in December 2022. The December labor force – those looking for jobs – came in at 165,720, which was 5,676 more than the number reported in December 2022.
The chart below shows the monthly level of jobs in Leon County over the last 37 months with a 12-month average trend line. The highlighted numbers relate to employment levels for the month of December back to 2020.
