Leon County Adds Jobs, Workforce Expands in February

The latest reports show that Leon County added 1,068 jobs in February when compared to last month. There were 159,932 people working in Leon County in February compared to last month’s revised employment number of 158,864.

The February unemployment rate remained at 3.3% – unchanged from January. The number of people in the work force increased from 164,208 in January to 165,326 in February.

One year ago, the February 2023 unemployment rate was 2.8%.

Year Over Year Comparison

The Leon County Jobs Report, provided below, shows the number of people working in February 2024 was 4,011 more than in February, 2023. The February labor force – those looking for jobs – came in at 165,326, which was 4,833 more than the number reported one year ago.

The chart below shows the monthly level of jobs in Leon County over the last 37 months with a 12-month average trend line. The highlighted numbers relate to employment levels for the month of February back to 2020.

  1. When you say Leon County added 1,068 jobs, is that 1068 People no longer have a Job because the Business Closed? I know we lost several Businesses lately.
