LOCAL NEWS

The City of Tallahassee is reporting as of 5/10/2024 8:16 am, there are 635 power outage orders affecting 65,205 customers.

Local residents will gather at the Miccosukee Greenway tomorrow (Saturday). They’re rallying to push back on what they see as threats to the Tallahassee park stemming from nearby development projects.

Florida A&M University is putting an announced $237 million donation from a Texas hemp farming executive “on hold,” as the media and school leaders raise questions about the value and source of the gift.

A Tallahassee man has been arrested in Albany following his alleged involvement in a woman’s murder. On Wednesday, May 8, the Albany Police Department (APD) said they received information that a man wanted for murder was in the city limits. Tallahassee, Florida police officers contacted APD that De’Andre Robinson was wanted as a possible suspect in the May 3 stabbing death of a woman in Tallahassee. She was stabbed several times leading to her death, according to APD.

LOCAL SPORTS NEWS

No. 8 Florida State (36-10, 14-9) visits Pitt (20-25, 6-18) for its final road series of the regular season. The three-game series kicks off tonight at 6:00 p.m. as the Noles look to build off the momentum of Tuesday’s walk-off win over Jacksonville. The game can be seen on the ACC Network Extra and heard on 100.7 WFLA. 

The No. 10 Florida State men’s tennis team will take on No. 7 Tennessee in the third round of the NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Championship on May 11 in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Seminoles are looking to advance to the quarterfinals for only the second time in program history.

FLORIDA NEWS

The Republican Party of Florida finalized its list of all the delegates it will be sending to the Republican National Convention. The list included Barron Trump, the youngest son of former President Donald Trump. Besides Barron Trump and significant elected officials from across the state, the former president’s other two sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, will be “at-large” delegates. Kimberly Guilfoyle, the fiancée of Trump Jr., is also on the list.

Gov. Ron DeSantis spoke at the University of Florida on Wednesday, touting Florida’s efforts to maintain law and order as pro-Palestinian protests have spurred across the country in recent weeks and caused chaos on college campuses. State leaders made it clear that if protesters break the law, they are no longer a protester, but a criminal instead.

Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday announced additional funding aimed at securing Jewish day schools and historically black colleges and universities. In January, the DeSantis administration announced 134 Jewish day schools in the state had received $25 million to increase security measures on campuses. The move followed DeSantis calling a special legislative session to ensure the protection of Jewish students amid rising antisemitism following the start of the Israel-Hamas war.

    Haven’t seen any repairing going on in my neck of the fallen woods. I sure hope Andrew Guilty isn’t in charge of power restoration.

    responsibility for public communication ? Sure I’m missing something.
