Dot Inman Johnson Pays Husband with Campaign Funds

Campaign finance records show that city commission candidate Dot Inman Johnson has paid her husband, Lee Johnson, $3,000 for political consulting services.

The payments were made on August 15, 2024 ($2,000) and September 10, 2024 ($1,000). The payments were made to an individual, not a registered political consultant business.

The August 15, 2024, payment was listed as campaign consulting and the September 10, 2024, payment was listed as political consulting.

The payments were reported on documents filed with the Leon County Supervisor of Elections.

A review of campaign finance records back to 2014 show that Lee Johson has been paid one other time as a political consultant and that was $500 on March 2, 2022, by the Jeremy Matlow campaign for city commission.

Paying family members with campaign funds is legal if legitimate services are rendered but is often frowned upon by political watch dogs.

This is a developing story – check back for updates.

  1. @ Beppo… my guess is that you’re about as moderate as Susan Rice. The moniker “moderate” left you when you exposed your clear and present case of TDS. The only thing left is using the newest diversion tactic of calling everything you disagree with “disinformation” .

  2. @Edward Lyle = Great job not addressing the issue and resorting to buzzwords. I’m actually a moderate, but you have to try and score points where you can.

  3. @ August West… spot-on

    @ Woof… Like I always say; No matter how you arrange the letters D E M O C R A T… it will always spell HYPOCRITE.

@ Beppo… A classic response from a Progressive Troll suffering with TDS

  4. someone wrote in a previous post the CRA had given Dot funds to build a recording studio at her husbands church. Now campaign contributions to her husbands business? How can Jeremy have spent years championing what’s right and not call out at minimum the bad perception? Cleaning up City Hall? WOOF!!!

  5. This isn’t even the first time she’s funneled political money toward her husband. Check out the CRA. These two need to get off the utter.

  6. Doesn’t seem like much money. Maybe it’s just their reimbursements like most candidates do. When is Curtis coming onto the radio? We need to hear from him why he keeps raising taxes.

  7. $3,000 so far is pretty Cheap. I have see some Candidates pay a Consultant $12,000 or MORE each Month. I have always wondered what the Consultant did (still do) to earn that kind of Money. A Couple Candidates will even have TWO Consultants that they pay big Money to each Month. I would really like to know what they do. Do they get the Candidate the Donations?
