Girls
Last week the Chiles (7-2) girls soccer team was tested against two tough teams both ranked in the top 10 in the U.S based on Maxpreps. The first match was at home against 8th ranked Bartram Trail (7-0-1) on Dec. 6. Bartram trail got their 7th win of the season beating the Timberwolves 3-1. The next day Chiles had an even tougher matchup against 4th ranked Ponte Vedra (6-0-1). Ponte Vedra defeated Chiles 3-0.
The Leon (3-3-1) girls soccer team also played two matches this past week against North Bay Haven (3-3-1) and Arnold High School (4-2-1). On Dec. 6 Leon beat North Bay Haven in a close matchup with a final score of 1-0. Leon replicated the performance a day later against Arnold high school with a 1-0 victory.
Boys
On Dec. 6, Lincoln (2-4-2) hosted Maclay (8-0-1) hoping to pull off the upset and deliver Maclay their first loss of the season. Maclay’s offense was too much for the Trojan defense resulting in a 6-1 win for the Marauders. Maclay’s six goals were all scored by different players including Santi Nunez, Luke Daunt, Jack Daunt, Zach Gazvhini, Vuk Usina, and Josh DeKloet.
On Dec. 6, FSUHS (5-0-2) faced off against Chiles (3-1-3) at home. The match featured a lot of defense and ended in a 0-0 draw.
On Dec. 6, St. JPII (3-2-1) played an away game against Oak Hall (6-1) looking to break their 6-game win streak and give them their first loss of the season. They were successful in doing so, ending the match with a score of 7-4 favoring the Panthers.
