On Wednesday, December 11, the Tallahassee City Commission voted 3-2 to support a proposed zoning amendment related to land near Kerry Forest Parkway. City Commissioners Matlow and Porter voted no.
The Tallahassee City Commission scheduled a January 2025 hearing to repeal the ordinance that established the Citizens Police Review Board.

Florida State University’s senior middle blocker Khori Louis played a pivotal role in helping the Seminoles make it to the NCAA National Championship volleyball tournament. Although they lost in the first round to the University of Mississippi in a tight 5th set, Louis had one of her best years regarding stats and awards.

Few people have demonstrated an ability to use leverage to make deals more than President-elect Donald Trump. He built his business career around the concept, and he’s demonstrated that those skills can be ported to the political world just as easily. And while the feverish speculation about Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as a potential Secretary of Defense nominee has become more muted this week, it’s still worth examining the idea from the perspective of political leverage as opposed to political necessity.

Grocery chain Albertsons has abandoned a proposed $25B merger with Kroger and is now suing its rival for alleged breach of contract. The termination ends a two-year effort to combine the competitors into the largest supermarket in US history, which would have controlled roughly 13% of the grocery market.

If we are going to have a citizens police revuew board, the cituzens should elect the board and it shoukd make reports to the citizens regulatly along with the police chief. Every zoning area should have a representstive and the police chjef should head it.
I recently came across the “Ghazvini ‘Playbook” Here it is.
1) Get the property rezoned
2) Make generous monetary contributions to the “right people”
3) Submit new development as a PUD (Planned Unit Development) so I don’t have to follow traditional building codes and regulations
4) Clear-cut the entire property, apologize if necessary or pay a small fine
5) Build just about anything I want with no regard to the impact on the people already living around the new development
6) Make tons of money
7) Just laugh and laugh at how stupid the city and county commissioners are
8) Plan next development
9) Repeat steps above
WOW! For once I agree with Matlow and Porter. We have enough commercial space along that stretch of road.
