Tallahassee Chamber Urges Support of Changes to Growth Regulations

The Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce is encouraging their members to advocate for changes to the Tallahassee-Leon County Comprehensive Plan.

In email to members, the Chamber stated, “Over the past several months, members of the Business Advocacy Committee (BAC) have been hard at work representing Chamber members and the broader business community in a critical effort to update the Tallahassee-Leon County Comprehensive Plan. This plan, originally crafted more than 30 years ago, guides how our community grows, develops, and invests in infrastructure. Now, it’s time for a much-needed refresh.”

The Chamber notes that the proposed amendments to the Future Land Use and Mobility Elements aim to modernize our approach to growth and sustainability. These updates will help protect our natural resources and discourage urban sprawl by steering development to appropriate areas. They also create opportunities for more housing near jobs and services, streamline government processes for greater transparency, and support both existing industries and emerging sectors. Most importantly, they promote fiscal responsibility by leveraging existing infrastructure investments.

A public hearing on the transmittal of these amendments is scheduled for Wednesday, September 17, at 6:00 PM at City Hall.
