School Board Member Darryl Jones Labels Charlie Kirk a “Racist, Misogynist, Homophobic Klansman”

A recent Facebook message by Leon County School Board member Darryl Jones labeling Charlie Kirk a “racist, misogynist, homophobic klansman” has resulted in a response from the Republican party.

Conservative activist Charlie Kirk was shot and killed Sept. 10 while speaking at a Utah University as part of his American Comeback tour.

The FB message, shown below, was first publicly acknowledged by Jones in an article published by the Tallahassee Democrat. Jones’ post was in response to the Commissioner of Education informing teachers to be cautious when commenting about Kirk’s death.

Jones posted, “The problem is that the Commissioner of Education, from his lofty position, found it necessary to inform an entire profession that it should not comment on the murder of a racist, misogynist, homophobic Klansman in negative terms.”

The Tallahassee Democrat article appears to have been prompted by a Tuesday press release from the Florida GOP.

The Florida GOP Chairman Evan Power called on the Democratic Party to denounce Jones for his comment.

“Darryl Jones is supposed to be leading in education, but instead he’s stoking the flames of division and dishonoring the office he holds,” Power said. “Mark our words: we will root out the low-life radical agitators who have embedded themselves in our education system.”

Jones’ statement provided to local media was did not address his comments and was not apologetic.

Jones said, “My recent comments, first shared in a Facebook forum, have since drawn attention away from what matters most: our school, our teachers, and our students. My lifelong focus remains ensuring that Title I schools in Leon County, and the families they serve, receive the strongest advocacy possible,” Jones said.

Jones added, “I abhor violence in all its forms and have always done so. Violence is never the answer. It is not words that kill-it is guns-and we must summon the will to address the laws that allow such tragedies to persist.”

@Thaddeus, we have watched a plethora of Charlie Kirk's videos; therefore, there is no need to "Google search" as you have recommended. We have merely appealed to you to provide the link to a source that supports your assertions. It is prevarication on your part not to provide evidence to support your claims. I might also add that a Google query, contrary to the belief of many, should be the beginning of one's quest for facts, not the end.

I am convinced that any argument that includes two or more of the following nouns or adjectives: colonizer, homophobic, patriarchy, misogynist, racist, bigot, white nationalist/white Christian nationalist, zenophobic, transphobic, islamophobic, fascist or nazi, emanates from a closed mind, and it is a fools errand to try to bring truth or logic into the discussion. Today, and only today, you are permitted to call me a fool.

One of us is calling a person to be better, the other one s defending a slanderer.

    John 7:24 HCSB

David T Hawkins do you have a smart phone and the google app on your phone ? Nobody has to search for a link to send you anything . A simple google search will provide you with a treasure trove of racist and inflammatory comments and videos clips of Charlie Kirk’s racist bigoted comments and opinions . You clearly must be a pathological liar yourself to even defend a scumbag like Charlie Kirk .

    James 4:11-12 HCSB
Don't criticize one another, brothers. He who criticizes a brother or judges his brother criticizes the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. There is one lawgiver and judge who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?

Darryl Jones trying to put the toothpaste back into the tube. Lies and slander are articulated violence, twisting the truth of another person's character and killing their reputation. Jones is a slanderer, he goes into the schools, drops a breakfast on teachers that he is supposed to serve without political bias or prejudice and whips up rhetoric demeaning the governor and policies, reinforces mediocrity, and encourages murmuring and complaining. I know this because I've witnessed it - and I have refused to eat his food! He will invoke the name of Jesus in order to hide behind it as his tongue does the devil's work. He needs to repent and turn to truth, and stop letting his little tongue set fires with bias and lies.

    James 3:5-6 HCSB
So too, though the tongue is a small part of the body, it boasts great things. Consider how large a forest a small fire ignites. And the tongue is a fire. The tongue, a world of unrighteousness, is placed among the parts of our bodies. It pollutes the whole body, sets the course of life on fire, and is set on fire by hell.

Darryl Jones, may the Lord of all things give you wisdom and discernment to sanctify your tongue, set it apart for noble use and purposes, and not for slander and bias without discernment.

@Beppo, Thanks for clarifying that. Much appreciated.

I didn't really follow Charlie. I wasn't his target audience, and was suspicious of TPUSA funding.

After his death I watched a few of his videos, and realized what I missed.

Here for example, Charlie gives an irrefutable proof of The Resurrection:

Ironically, were he still on this earth, Charlie would enthusiastically sit down and have a congenial and enlightened conversation with Mr. Jones exploring any topic he chose.

Charlie invited those who disagreed with him to speak their minds, he would patiently listen to them, and logically reason with them.

Somebody put a bullet in him because he shined a light so bright they feared exposure.

Mr. Jones chose of his own volition to expose himself as a hateful bigot by bearing false witness to the life of a good man while so many mourn his passing. By all accounts Charlie was a deeply Christian man who was willing to risk his life on the side of good, and wanted nothing more than to be remembered for his Faith.

Mr. Jones statements are intentionally divisive and self serving, and I would hope not in line with Tallahassee community standards. Certainly not an example for kids to follow, much less something you would want to hear from anyone who has any say what so ever in their education.

Does that statement reflect a standard that the city finds acceptable from its employees on social media?

I don't see how this can be anything other than an ethics violation, and a pretty dumb one at that. He's virtue signaling to the devil, and anyone with a sense of decency should be deeply offended by those comments from anyone, much less a public official who is also a public employee.

Mr Jones is a city employee who bio states, "Darryl Jones is the Deputy Director of the Office of Economic Vitality (OEV) for Minority, Women and Small Business (MWSBE) Programs. In this role, Darryl manages supplier diversity for the City of Tallahassee, Leon County, and the Blueprint Intergovernmental Agency." No mention of family, or religious affiliation.

He doesn't seem to be a straight shooter to me, and as taxpayers we deserve better from our representatives and employees, and I think we need to demand an independent audit by an outside agency of that department so we can see what else he's been up to.

You can contact the city leadership to voice your concerns.

What a truly hateful and deceived man. Perfect example why you should not entrust the education of your children to the government.

“We cannot continue to send our children to Caesar for their education and be surprised when they come home as Romans.” Dr. Voddie T. Baucham Jr.

If you care about your kids, do everything within your power to home educate or pursue a private education for them. You will not regret it.

@DontBeRacist, you seem firm in your conviction that Charlie Kirk was a racist and intimate that you have evidence to support your view. Now, enlighten the rest of us by posting links and sources to support your claim. We want NO edited clips but rather the full unedited remarks or conversations that have branded him a racist. Let's see your "research".

The thing is you all know the harmful things Charlie Kirk said, but some how want to deny it or just think they’re snippets. They aren’t it’s a hateful rhetoric that is seeping through this country that only hurts people who are marginalized. You do your homework and see what he has said. You do the research and see why people think it’s harmful. Do something to stop that hate that’s happening in this country, state, and city. Sitting in the comments going back and forth isn’t going to help any of us bring our nation back together.

David, he won't do it because he can't. They don't exist. CK shared a stage with a black woman and an openly gay man with a husband. Issues with individuals isn't an issue with a group. The fact that DSP can't make that distinction tells you all you need to know about how he or she thinks about people and groups.

Anyone who makes such loathe full, disgusting comments has no business being on a school board. You have the right to free speech but you are not free from the consequences of that speech. Every single employer has the right to terminate an employee for their actions and speech if it violates their Code of Conduct.

Again, these comments say more about you all than they do about Darryl. Charlie Kirk did say deplorable things about Black people, Trans people, Women, and the LGBTQ+ community. To deny that is on you,but he said horrible things. Just because someone speaks up and represents communities that have been underfunded and forgotten doesn’t make them Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson. It’s always freedom of speech until someone says something you don’t like. Charlie Kirk had every right to say the things he did and he should still be here to say them. Doesn’t mean people had to like or agree with what he said just like you don’t have to like what Darryl said. Doesn’t mean he should resign.

    Darryl Jones is vituperative jerk.
And the fact that he is on the school board says more about the people of Leon County than it does about his narrow backside.
If you elect stupid racists people to the school board, you should expect to get stupid racist comments from it. The dumbest people I know graduated from Leon County Schools... and now you know why.

What a disgraceful display of censorship and political maneuvering. Its appalling that the Florida GOP is trying to silence Darryl Jones simply because he called out Charlie Kirk for who he was—a racist, misogynist, homophobic klansman. The fact that Jones even had to go to a Facebook forum to voice such a necessary condemnation speaks volumes about the intimidation tactics used by those in power. His focus on Title I schools and advocating for their families is exactly what leadership should look like, not some phony political posturing. The comments section is a testament to the publics awakening to the hypocrisy surrounding this situation. Lets not let the powers-that-be silence the truth.nyt game

Gozoypaz :Having followed Jones via the Leon County School Board meetings, I remember his nomination of Sharon L. Hicks ( Who: BTW: was "not" found guilty during Gillum's trial ) for a position on a Leon County School Committee. Look her up. My dead on, but humble opinion, there is a nexus between the rotund Jones, Bethel Churches - and eating boiled peanuts during school board meetings.

What a hateful, mean-spirited comment! I will hazzard a guess that Mr. Jones is a church-going individual, and as such, he should know that
anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer. Yes, Mr. Jones, words kill. Can Mr.Jones point to specific words within context that make the late Charlie Kirk a racist, misogynist, homophobic klansman? I would venture to say that his comments are not rooted in any personal research but rather an uninformed hate-filled left-leaning psychosis that seems to have engulfed a sizable portion of our nation. It is heartbreaking to know that people of this mentality are in any way associated with the education of our precious children. Finally, as a churchgoer, I hope that Mr. Jones is aware that John recorded in the sacred text that there is a place reserved in that very hot place for ALL those who economical with the truth.
