Jack Porter Seeks to Expand National Profile Via Immigration Issue

It appears that Tallahassee City Commissioner Jack Porter has engaged with a national political consulting firm to promote her position on immigration policy.

TR received an unsolicited email on March 3 from Seeker Strategies, an Austin, Texas based firm that is described as “a progressive, Black and Brown-owned communications and advocacy firm that guides clients through an ever-changing cultural, political, and regulatory landscape.”

The firm focuses on communications and advocacy. The website states “We craft your story, tailor your message to the right audiences, and engage the press on your behalf…We identify the decision makers you need to move, enlist influencers, and deploy campaigns to shape policy.”

The email headline stated, “Commissioner Jack Porter available to talk on background.”

The email stated, “Tallahassee Commissioner Jack Porter is available to speak on background about what immigrants in her community are currently experiencing, and she can connect you with families affected by recent raids. The commissioner opposed the 287(g) agreement between the city of Tallahassee and the federal government this past October, and she’s also to speak about the impacts this is currently having on immigrants in Tallahassee. Let me know if you’d be interested in speaking with her, and I’ll get you connected.”

The email was sent on the same day that Porter participated in a forum addressing local immigration policy and 287(g) agreements. During the forum, hosted by Leon County Indivisible (formerly Resist Trump), Porter criticized City Manager Reese Goad and Police Chief Revell for their cooperation with federal officials via a 287(g) agreement.

For the record, Commissioner Porter has repeatedly ignored request for comments from TR.

I would not re-elect her in a million years. She belongs on the Board in Dearborn, MI.

What struck me is that her emphasis is on immigrants. Is that because it's the issue du jour this year? Tallahassee has relatively few immigrants compared to so many other areas of FL. I'm an 'immigrant' from Miami - now that's a place where she can find a lot of real immigrants.

Jack is more concerned with immigrants, black, and brown folks above all. It shows in her voting pattern.

Porter's questionable castrating of neighbor's cat: Paper of Record, printed the story.
Hair pulled and blood drawn between Porter and neighbor. AKA "cat fight".
The actual cat was not involved.
BTW: Tallahassee ranks 27th nationwide... cat ladies per subdivision

I can't help but notice Adam's Marxist purity test to determine what is a genuine news outlet and what isn't.

I wonder if Allison and Adam are the same person. Perhaps a he/she/it kind of thing.

Edward and David are correct. Jack Porter only cares about advancing herself. She has never cared about her constituents or what’s best for the City of Tallahassee and it shows in her voting.

She has repeatedly ignored your requests for comment, because you're just another right wing rag that regularly engages in bad faith smear campaigns of non-corporatist Democrats.

This article is just another example of that clear and obvious trend...

If your number one Goal is not for the Betterment of the American Citizens then, you shouldn't be in Office.

Great job Commissioner Porter! You continue to do amazing work for the people who voted you in.

If you need to pay a consultant to help you "... move, enlist influencers, and deploy campaigns to shape policy.”, then you're NOT a representative of We The People. You're a political career ladder climber seeking to serve yourself and an ideology rather than doing what's best for We The People.
