Chiles Beach Volleyball Wins State Title

On May 9th, the Chiles beach volleyball team beat Merritt Island in the FHSAA 2A state final to claim a state title finishing their season with an impressive record of 21-1. Earlier this year the Timberwolves won a state title for indoor volleyball and proved they could find the same success on the sand with a lot of the same players.

Chiles took control of the match early, winning at both the second and fourth positions. Loganne Abernathy and Riley Warmath earned a 21-11, 21-17 victory at the second position, while Riley Boykin and Callie Rowse followed with a 21-16, 21-17 win at the fourth position. Holding a 2-0 lead going into the second wave of matches, the Timberwolves needed just one more point to secure the dual. While Lindsay Smith and Sterling Carlisle dominated at the third position and Jensen Glenn and Anna Holman also held the lead at the fifth position, it was Meg Hearn and Natalie Gibson at the first position who clinched the dual with a 21-9, 21-6 victory.
