The extraordinarily close race for second place in the Tallahassee City Commission Seat 3 primary has moved to a manual recount Monday morning. According to reports by WCTV and WTXL, Tom Derzypolski holding a 13-vote advantage over Talethia Edwards for a spot in the November runoff. Details.

Two Leon County Sheriff’s Office vehicles were involved in separate crashes less than 24 hours apart over the weekend, including a Friday night collision that killed a pedestrian and a Saturday evening crash that resulted in three people being taken to a hospital. Details.

The trade dispute between the US and Canada escalated sharply over the weekend after last-minute negotiations ended without agreement. A raft of US tariffs on Canadian goods kicked in Friday at midnight, while Prime Minister Mark Carney announced Canada would apply dollar-for-dollar tariffs going into effect Sept. 8.   

A Texas judge rejected Karmelo Anthony’s request for a new trial Saturday following his conviction in the murder of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf. The case drew national attention over the issue of race, even as both legal teams sought to downplay its role in the violence.
