On Sep. 22, The Marauders finished at 303 (+15) Tuesday at Wakulla Sands Golf Club, claiming the Big Bend Championship team title in one of the few regular-season tournaments on the local schedule that stretches across a full 18 holes. With four scores combining to give Maclay a five-stroke cushion over runner-up Chiles, the Marauders emerged from a field featuring many of the area’s top programs. Chiles finished second at 308 (+20), followed by Suwannee at 312 and Wakulla at 318. Leon placed fifth at 320 (+32), while Florida High finished sixth at 325 (+37). St. John Paul II and Lincoln rounded out the Tallahassee-area teams in the top nine, finishing eighth and ninth, respectively.
Maclay placed three golfers inside the individual top 14. Junior Brody Mitchell led the Marauders’ charge with a 73 (+1), finishing fifth overall, while senior Austin Nobles carded a 74 (+2) to tie for sixth. Eighth grader Brayden Swiney continued his strong season with a 77 (+5), finishing 14th. Cameron Kise added a 79 (+7), and Downing Jordan finished at 82 (+10).
While Maclay controlled the team leaderboard, Chiles junior Rhys Cochran was writing a different kind of story at the top of the individual standings.
Cochran came through the 18-hole test with a 69 (-3), the only round under par in the tournament. The junior’s score separated him from the field, as Mosley’s Cade Denecke finished second at 70 (-2) and Lincoln senior Chase Fleischer followed at 71 (-1). Cochran’s three-under round was the low mark of the championship, giving Chiles the individual winner even Maclay secured the team crown.
Chiles also placed two golfers inside the top six, with senior Jackson Kukla shooting a 74 (+2) to tie for sixth. Parker Ritchie finished at 82 (+10), followed by Asher Hall at 83 (+11) and Cole Kendall at 85 (+13).
Leon was led by junior Solomon Hardy, who shot a 75 (+3) to tie for eighth. Liam Minton followed at 78 (+6), while Hudson Gardner finished at 80 (+8). Aubrey Turner shot 87 (+15), and Andrew Suber carded a 92 (+20).
Florida High sophomore Hunter Glantz matched Hardy’s 75 (+3) to tie for eighth. Donovan Daniell and Quinn Mask each shot 83 (+11), while Robbie Vos finished at 84 (+12) and Eli Shanks at 87 (+15).
St. John Paul II was led by Jack Collins, who shot 78 (+6) to tie for 15th. Liam Cafferky and Cullen Edwards each finished at 79 (+7).
Lincoln’s team score was anchored by Fleischer’s 71 (-1), the third-place individual finish. Kale Hurd added an 82 (+10), while Sutton Suber shot 87 (+15), Bryce Garber finished at 94 (+22), and Brooks Akos carded a 99 (+27).
