On Sep. 26, St. John Paul II hosted the Panther Invite cross country meet with 11 schools from the Tallahassee area competing. Leon Came out on top with dominant performances in both the boys and girls races claiming both team titles and both individual titles.
Boys
Leon’s boys finished with an average time of 17:07, placing four runners among the top five finishers. Freshman Isaiah Renn led the field with a time of 16:20.07, followed by teammates Asher McGrew in 17:11.72 placing third, Andrew Barnes in 17:15.93 placing fourth and Fife Duncan in 17:21.39 placing fifth. Leon’s five scoring runners finished just 1:09 apart, giving the Lions a 56-point margin over second-place Community Christian School.
Godby’s Erick Garcia had a notable finish placing second overall with a time of 16:56.59, finishing 55 seconds before third place.
Community Christian finished with an average time of 19:43, led by Everett Malick’s seventh-place finish in 17:54.49. Lincoln Eisenberg finished 10th in 18:13.94, while Jericho Wilson, Dominic Graff and Josiah Durbin completed the school’s scoring five.
Chiles finished with an average time of 20:29, led by Liam Wheeler’s 15th-place finish in 19:08.29. Caleb Edwards finished 22nd in 19:56.45, followed by Jack Getman in 26th, Joshua Tomkiewicz in 42nd and Jason Barber in 45th.
Maclay finished with an average time of 20:49. Wesley Seise was the Marauders’ top finisher, placing 17th in 19:24.06. Reed Theriot, Luke Jackson, Charlie Beaven and Hudson Cheesborough rounded out Maclay’s scoring five.
Rickards recorded an average time of 22:00, led by Princeton Pace’s 14th-place finish in 18:49.62. Wakulla finished with an average time of 26:49.
Girls
In the girls varsity race, Leon also took first with an average time of 23:14. Senior Tatum Hendon won the individual race in 21:23.79, while freshman Emma Swanson finished fourth in 23:04.72. Elaine Ungru placed sixth in 23:37.82, Reagan Kingsley was ninth in 23:49.28 and Ella Augustyniak finished 10th in 24:18.68 to complete Leon’s scoring five.
Chiles finished second with an average time of 24:19, led by senior Andi Vilardo in fifth place at 23:14.91. Abby West finished seventh in 23:39.00, Laney Blay placed eighth in 23:44.69, Karen Qu finished 15th in 25:08.06 and Ashley Mauler was 19th in 25:48.57.
Rickards finished with an average time of 27:41 behind a strong opening performance from Miyoko Inouye and Darci Bohling. Inouye finished second overall in 21:48.63, while Bohling was third in 22:48.90. Gwenyth Gray, Casseau Thomas and Larose Knight completed the Rams’ scoring five.
