Chiles Boys Soccer Defeats Florida High 5-1 Behind Giove Hat Trick

The Chiles boys soccer team earned a 5-1 victory over Florida High on Thursday night, Nov. 5, at Chiles. The Timberwolves used a strong offensive performance, including a hat trick from senior Salvatore Giove, to pull away from the Seminoles and secure the win.

Florida High struck first, opening the scoring with a goal from Malachi Jeune with 39 minutes remaining in the first half. The Seminoles threatened to extend their lead, but Chiles goalkeeper Alejandro Arroyo made a save to keep the Timberwolves within reach.

Chiles responded with 15 minutes remaining in the half when Giove found the back of the net on a free kick from just outside the box to even the score at 1-1. Giove struck again shortly afterward, finishing another opportunity off an assist from Lucas Floriani to give the Timberwolves a 2-1 lead.

The Chiles offense continued to build momentum, as senior Nathan Thomas added another goal with five minutes remaining in the half. Thomas slipped a shot past the Florida High goalkeeper to extend the advantage to 3-1 heading into halftime.

The Timberwolves maintained control in the second half, limiting Florida High’s offensive opportunities while the defense held firm. The Seminoles generated chances through set pieces but were unable to find the back of the net.

Giove completed his hat trick with 19 minutes remaining, scoring his third goal of the night off an assist from Elijah Veloza to extend the Chiles lead to 4-1.

Senior Kingston Marshall added the final goal for the Timberwolves, finishing a pass from Robert Sanders to make it 5-1.

Florida High continued to look for scoring opportunities late in the match, creating chances through long throws and corner kicks, but Chiles held on to preserve the four-goal victory.

Chiles will play their next match against Leon at Chiles on Nov. 10, while Florida High will play a home match against Rickards on Nov. 9.
